Roma sale 26 Mar 2024: Numbers fall with autumn rain

Due to some of the best Autumn rain for sometime Roma Agents yarded 2,072 head almost 4,000 lest than the previous sale.

Not all of the regular processors feedlotters and backgrounders present.

However the market increased in prices. Light weight yearling steers under 200kg topped at 456c/kg. Yearling steers 200 to 280kg made to 412c to average 399c/kg. Yearling steers 280 to 330kg averaged 355c topping at 416c/kg. Yearling steers 330 to 400kg topped at 380c/kg. Yearling steers 400 to 480kg to restockers made to 356c with over 480kg topping at 330c to average 291c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg made to 294c/kg. Yearling heifers 200 to 280kg to restockers made to 296c/kg. Yearling heifers 280 to 330kg also sold to 296c to average 252c/kg. Yearling heifers 330 to 400kg had an increase of almost 40c selling to 288c/kg. Yearling heifers 400 to 480kg topped 270c to average 253c/kg. Grown steers 500 to 600kg sold to 290c with the over 600kg selling to 279c/kg to processors. Grown heifers over 540kg sold to 278c/kg.

Cows well supported with the 2 scores selling from 160c to 218/kg.

The 3 score cows also sold well selling from 206c to 240c/kg. The best of the heavy weight bulls made to 267c/kg.

Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 456c/kg and averaged 449c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 422c/kg and averaged 377c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 410c/kg and averaged 352c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 378c/kg and averaged 348c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 336c/kg and averaged 303c/kg.

D & S Hurley, Yarrawonga, Charleville, sold Charolais cross steers to 456c/kg, reaching a top of $1,054 to average $821.  The Simmental cross heifers sold to 294c/kg, reaching a top of $1,251 to average $687. The Simmental cross cow and calves sold to $1660 per head to average $1652.

Westmac Pastoral, Gulargambone, sold Angus cross steers to 422c/kg, reaching a top of $1,319 to average $1,147.

A & H Stringer, Oakville, Miles sold Angus cross steers to 410c/kg, reaching a top of $1,118 to average $1,105.

JE & JL Creevey, Lucknow Station, Augathella sold Charolais cross steers to 406c/kg, reaching a top of $1,295 to average $1,127.  The Charolais cross heifers sold to 296c/kg, reaching a top of $1,669 to average $716.

BM Avery & Banjo Grazing Company Pty Ltd, Gumvale, Blackall sold Charolais cross steers to 378c/kg, reaching a top of $1,398 to average $1,326.

Bushy Park Pastoral Pty Ltd, Bushy Park, Cloncurry sold Droughtmaster steers to 360c/kg, reaching a top of $1,279 to average $1,010.

David Stanford, Waldrona, Roma sold Charolais cross steers to 356c/kg, reaching a top of $1,716 to average $1,441.

Jarvis Black, Wallumbilla sold Charolais cross steers to 346c/kg, reaching a top of $1,075 to average $1,075.

Heifers under 200kg topped at 294c/kg and averaged 291c/kg, while heifers in the 200-280kg range topped at 296c/kg and averaged 247c/kg. Heifers in the 280-330kg range topped at 294c/kg, averaging 247c/kg. Heifers in the 330-400kg range topped at 270c/kg, averaging 229c/kg. Heifers in the 400-500kg range topped at 270c/kg, averaging 253c/kg.

CW, EM & LM Hartwig, Bungaban, Wandoan sold Charolais cross heifers to 292c/kg, reaching a top of $864 to average $714.

Cows in the 330-400kg range reached 218c/kg and averaged 178c/kg. Cows in the 400-500kg range topped at 220c/kg, averaging 201c/kg. Cows in the 500-600kg range topped at 240c/kg, averaging 219c/kg. Cows over 600kg topped at 240c/kg, averaging 227c/kg.
