Roma sale 26 July 2022: Yarding drops to 3670

Yarding 3670 Change -6081

Numbers fell to 3670 at the Roma Store Sale, down by 6081 head. Cattle were drawn from a wider supply area, including Western Queensland, however local cattle continue to dominate the yarding. Overall quality varied with increased numbers of light weight yearling bulls yarded. A large buying panel was present including all regular processors, along with two Southern processors, however one regular processor did not operate. Competition was strong across the steers and heifers however overall the market mostly eased, but cows saw improvements with increased competition from Southern processors.

Light weight steers fell by 46c to 77c, medium weight steers were down by 15c to 134c, while heavy feeder steers fell by 56c/kg. Light weight heifers to fell by 25c to 101c, while medium weight heifers to restockers fell by 32c to 36c/kg. Heavy weight heifers to feed improved by 1c/kg. Medium weight prime cows improved by 35c while heavy weight prime cows improved by 23c/kg.

Light weight steers under 200kg made to 570.2c to average 550c/kg while light weight yearling steers under 280kg to restockers made to 618.2c to average 559c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers reach to 588.2c to average 518c/kg while medium weight yearling steers under 400kg to restockers made to 532.2c to average 485c/kg.

Heavy weight yearling steers to feed reached a top of 484.2c to average 435c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg made to 522.2c to average 481 c/kg while light weight yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers also made to 522.2c to average 483c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers sold to 456.2c to average 449c/kg while medium weight yearling heifers under 400kg to restockers reached a top of 434.2c to average 425c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 490.2c to average 457c/kg.

The largest sample of grown steers sold to 389.2c to average 383c/kg. The best of the grown heifers made to 362.2c to average 345c/kg. Heavy weight prime cows reached a top of 339.2c to average 324c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 250.2c to average 235.2c/kg. The small number of cows and calves yarded to $1,420/unit.

A total of 3,670 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday. Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 570c/kg and averaged 510c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 618c/kg and averaged 552c/kg.

Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 588c/kg and averaged 518c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 468c/kg and averaged 532c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topping at 421c/kg and averaging 421c/kg.

Gwenbrook Farms, Gwenbrook, Roma sold Santa cross steers to 618c/kg reaching a top of $1,792 to average $1,573.

SJ Todd Constructions Pty Ltd sold Santa Gertrudis steers to 610c/kg reaching a top of $1,854 to average $1,697.

J & M Collinson, West Myall, Roma sold Simmental steers to 610c/kg reaching a top of $1,642 to average $1,537. The Simmental heifers sold to 456c/kg reaching a top of $1,146 to average $1,088.

Allen Family Investments, Barcoola, Injune sold Charolais steers to 592c/kg reaching a top of $1,496 to average $1,394. The Charolais heifers sold to 506c/kg reaching a top of $1,303 to average $1,234.

Cariswoode Pastoral, Dunbarr, Weengallon sold Charolais steers to 590c/kg reaching a top of $1,529 to average $1,474.

Lynella Smith, Roma sold Speckle Park steers to 584c/kg reaching a top of $1,830 to average $1,400. The Speckle Park heifers sold to 488c/kg reaching a top of $917 to average $917.

AR & AG Anderson, Paramount, Roma sold Charolais steers to 568c/kg reaching a top of $1,840 to average $1,597. The Charolais heifers sold to 522c/kg reaching a top of $1,584 to average $1,351.

Euthulla Holdings Pty Ltd, Euthulla, Roma sold Santa Gertrudis steers to 552c/kg reaching a top of $1,084 to average $1,084.

Murphy Pastoral Co, Lina Glen, Jundah sold Angus steers to 532c/kg reaching a top of $2,100 to average $1,629. The Santa Gertrudis cows sold to 334c/kg reaching a top of $1,766 to average $1,385.

Dart Pastoral Co, Keen Gea, Torrens Creek sold Charolais steers to 532c/kg reaching a top of $1,952 to average $1,670. The Charolais heifers sold to 456c/kg reaching a top of $1,572 to average $1,406.

AR & SM Russel, Glenrowan, Augathella sold Angus steers to 514c/kg reaching a top of $1,622 to average $1,622. The Angus Heifers sold to 426 reaching a top of $1,227 to average $1,227.

Spreadborough Pastoral Co, Finsbury Park, Roma sold Droughtmaster steers to 448c/kg reaching a top of $2,240 to average $2,030.

Bundulla Grazing Co, Brenian, Roma sold Angus steers to 446c/kg reaching a top of $2,209 to average $2,074. The Angus heifers sold to 490c/kg reaching a top of $2,070 to average $1,878.

GL & JA Bryant, Amarillo, Roma sold Droughtmaster steers to 440c/kg reaching a top of $1,908 to average $1,890.

Tammy & Murray Egan sold Santa Gertrudis steers to 430c/kg reaching a top of $2,058 to average $1,905.

MD & WR Reddan sold Santa Gertrudis steers to 430c/kg reaching a top of $1,720 to average $1,623. Heifers under 200kg topped at 522c/kg and averaged 468c/kg, while heifers in the 200- 280kg range topped at 522c/kg and averaged 446c/kg.

Heifers in the 280-330kg range topped at 456c/kg, averaging 400c/kg. Heifers in the 330-400kg range topped at 458c/kg, averaging 394c/kg. Heifers in the 400-500kg range topped at 490c/kg, averaging 388c/kg.

Cows in the 330-400kg range reached 276c/kg and averaged 250c/kg. Cows in the 400- 500kg range topped at 390c/kg, averaging 283c/kg. Cows in the 500-600kg range topped at 334c/kg, averaging 309c/kg. Cows over 600kg topped at 339c/kg, averaging 319c/kg. Wade Warrian, Myrtlevale, Injune sold Brangus cows to 339c/kg reaching a top of $2,211 to average $2,211.

Banoona Pastoral Co, Banoona, Roma sold Composite cows to 330c/kg reaching a top of $2,287 to average $2,030. Seawright Investments, Injune sold Santa Gertrudis cows to 320c/kg reaching a top of $2,136 to average $1,653.
