Numbers rose to 6,001 at the Roma Store Sale, up by 2,331 head. Cattle were mostly drawn from the local supply area, but did include runs from Mt Isa and Cloncurry. Overall quality was mixed with steers accounting for over half of the yarding. Another solid buying panel was present and operating, including all regular processors however one did not operate again. Southern processors maintained a presence this week. Competition was strong across the yarding with good gains experienced across most steers, heifers and cows. Light weight steers rose by 24c to 99c/kg. Medium weight steers were up by 17c to 68c, while heavy feeder steers eased by 1c/kg. Medium weight heifers to restockers rose by 1c, while medium weight heifers to feed rose by 16c to 22c/kg. Heavy weight prime cows rose by 7c to 17c/kg.

Light weight steers under 200kg made to 654.2c to average 649c/kg. Yearling steers under 280kg to restockers also made to 654.2c to average 583c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers reached 602.2c to average 536c/kg. Yearling steers under 400kg to restockers made to 542.2c to average 506c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed reached a top of 462.2c to average 433c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg made to 500.2c to average 410c/kg. Yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers made to 534.2c to average 462c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers sold to 488.2c to average 448c/kg. Yearling heifers under 400kg to restockers reached a top of 454.2c to average 426c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to restockers made to 390.2c to average 370c/kg.

The largest sample of grown steers sold to 394.2c to average 373c/kg. The largest sample of the grown heifers made to 332.2c to average 322c/kg. Heavy weight prime cows reached a top of 348.2c to average 331c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 248.2c to average 240c/kg. The larger number of cows and calves yarded sold to $2,050/unit.

Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 654c/kg and averaged 621c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 654c/kg and averaged 555c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 602c/kg and averaged 522c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 542c/kg and averaged 480c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topping at 480c/kg and averaging 411c/kg.
