Yarding: 8372 Change: +669

Off the back of good winter rain, cattle prices continued to climb with just under 8400 head yarded at the Roma Saleyards.

Under the continued firm market, categories were up by 10 cents or more, with plenty of different cattle types on display.

With nothing but blue skies for the Tuesday sale, the laneways were packed with the regular processors, lotfeeders and backgrounders all actively competing for pens.

The broad selection and quality on offer once again solidified Roma Saleyards as the marketplace of choice amid current cattle demand.

The yarding was drawn primarily from the local supply district, including Roma, Injune, Taroom as well as Morven, Charleville and Augathella.

Cattle were also consigned from as far north as far as Boulia, McKinlay, Barcaldine, Blackall and Mount Isa in Queensland.

Able Pastoral Partners, ‘Two-up’ offloaded a quality run of Angus cross steers and Santa Gertrudis cross steers to fetch an average 561c/kg weighing in at 246kg for a return of $1,379/hd.

Peter Seawright’s Santa Gertrudis cross steers made a top of 572c/kg to weigh 220kg for a return of $1,259/hd.

A further two pens of Angus cross steers sold for a straight 564c/kg weighing 244kg to fetch $1,379/hd.

The line was consigned through PJH Livestock. Pictured with the Able Pastoral steers is PJH agents Steven Goodhew and Ed Cross.
