Roma sale 26 Sep 2023: Lightweight yearlings ease 10-20c

Cattle were drawn from NSW the local supply area as well as Far Western QLD.

All processors were in attendance and operating as were backgrounders and feedlotters. Once again buyers were showing preference for the quality lines.

However light weight yearling steers and heifers eased 10c to 20c/kg with cows maintaining similar prices to last sale. Light weight yearling steers under 200kg made to 274c to average 256c/kg. Light weight yearling steers 200 to 280kg averaged 258c topped at 280c/kg. Medium weight steers made to 256c to average 239c/kg. Yearling steers over 400kg made to 264c and averaged 235c/kg.

Yearling heifers under 200kg made to 188c to average 160c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning the paddock averaged 154c topping at 186c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers made to 192c to average 149c/kg. Heifers over 400kg averaged 142c and made to 202c/kg.

Bullocks made to 232c to average 230c/kg.

Medium 2 score cows made to 172c to average 149c with the 3 score cows topping at 194c to average 168c/kg. Best of the heavy weight bulls to 175c/kg.

Roma store press report

A total of 4,573 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 280c/kg and averaged 236c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 280c/kg and averaged 249c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 270c/kg and averaged 240c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 268c/kg and averaged 235c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 264c/kg and averaged 237c/kg.

Rosehearty Grazing Co, Koonong Downs, Muckadilla sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 280c/kg, reaching a top of $1,703 to average $757. The Santa Gertrudis cross heifers sold to 194c/kg, reaching a top of $1,034 to average $407. The Santa Gertrudis cows sold to 180c/kg, reaching a top of $1,065 to average $783.

Scott Ridley, Talegar, Coonamble sold Brangus steers to 280c/kg, reaching a top of $616 to average $570.

John & Meryl McNulty, Mostyn, Yuleba sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 275c/kg, reaching a top of $1,039 to average $555. The Santa Gertrudis cross heifers sold to 168c/kg, reaching a top of $352 to average $319.

P & S English Contracting P/L, Anchorage, St George sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 274c/kg, reaching a top of $610 to average $591.

Pemberley Grazing, Pemberley Isisford sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 270c/kg, reaching a top of $1,162 to average $561.

Heifers under 200kg topped at 188c/kg and averaged 158c/kg, while heifers in the 200-280kg range topped at 188c/kg and averaged 149c/kg. Heifers in the 280-330kg range topped at 180c/kg, averaging 145c/kg. Heifers in the 330-400kg range topped at 192c/kg, averaging 154c/kg. Heifers in the 400-500kg range topped at 210c/kg, averaging 165c/kg.

Tanya M Dawes, Barr Park, Roma sold Santa Gertrudis cross heifers to 210c/kg, reaching a top of $1,036 to average $961.

NW, R, C & DM James, Annabi, Wandoan sold Hereford cross heifers to 165c/kg, reaching a top of $479 to average $441.

Cows in the 330-400kg range reached 120c/kg and averaged 74c/kg. Cows in the 400-500kg range topped at 185c/kg, averaging 123c/kg. Cows in the 500-600kg range topped at 194c/kg, averaging 160c/kg. Cows over 600kg topped at 190c/kg, averaging 160c/kg.

M & F Bidgood, Katoomba, Injune sold Hereford cross cows to 190c/kg, reaching a top of $1,227 to average $674.

MJ Munday, Mirrabooka, Roma sold Droughtmaster cross cows to 186c/kg, reaching a top of $1,059 to average $802.
