Roma store sale 25 Aug 2020: Prices maintain strength in changed yarding

Guest Author 26/08/2020

Yarding 6414 Change 561

Cattle were drawn from a wide supply area and included large runs from North West Queensland and the Northern Territory.

The yarding was quite different from the previous week with limited numbers of light weight young cattle present, along with a large run of PTIC grown heifers and cows from the Northern Territory, and the overall quality of the yarding varied greatly.

There was a large buying panel with a solid representation of restockers operating, however one regular processor was again not present or operating.

Prices remained firm with price variations reflective of the quality yarded.

Despite not reaching the same top prices as last week, medium weight steers under 330kg to restockers only fell by 1c to 4c, while heavy weight yearling steers to feed improved by 1c/kg.

Medium weight heifers under 400kg to restockers rose by 14c/kg.

Processor competition improved on the store condition cows across the weight brackets.
