Yarding: 9556 Change: +5901

Temperatures were high at this week’s sale and so too was the yarding, with just over 9500 head of cattle penned.

This week’s mammoth yarding saw an increase of over 5900 head of cattle recorded on last week’s rain-impacted sale. The market was very strong, with the regular buyers, lotfeeders and backgrounders in attendance competing for quality pens of cattle which hailed from near and far.

Cattle were drawn from the local Maranoa supply district including Injune, Muckadilla, Roma, Surat and Wallumbilla, and from the western regions of Augathella, Bedourie, Boulia, Longreach, Tambo and Quilpie.

The yarding was also drawn as far afield as Cloncurry and Julia Creek.

Twatty Past Co offloaded a run of steers, selling to 571c/kg for an average weight of 297kg, averaging $1,697/hd.

Operating out of ‘Como’, Quilpie, one pen of Charbray cross steers sold for 522c/kg, averaging 427kg to receive a return of $2,228/hd.

A further pen of Charbray cross steers made 610c/kg, weighing an average of 287kg to make $1,754/hd.

The line was consigned through Grant, Daniel and Long, Quilpie.

 

Elders Roma Livestock Agent, Bennett Ladbrook with Champion Livestock Co steers.

Champion Livestock Co, based out of ‘Longway Station’, Longreach, sold Santa Gertrudis steers for 618c/kg, weighing in at 245kg for a return of $1,513/hd.

The line was consigned through Elders Roma, pictured below with Elders Roma Livestock Agent Bennett Ladbrook.

 

M & M.T. Bright’s steers.

M & M.T. Bright of ‘Karoola Park’, Surat, offloaded a run of Angus cross steers, making 523c/kg for an average weight of 412kg and return of $2,153/hd.

One pen of Angus cross steers sold for 526c/kg weighing 434kg for an average of $2,282/hd.

Another pen of Angus cross steers fetched 514c/kg to make an average weight of 440kg for a return of $2,262/hd.

The line was consigned through PJH Livestock and Property.

 

NLRS Commentary:

Numbers increased to 9556 head at Roma Sale. All the regular buyers attending and active. An exceptional line up of quality cattle on offer from the regular supply area as well as Western NSW. The market very solid to dearer for young cattle however grown steers, bullocks and cows varied in price.

Yearling steers under 200kg to 610c/kg. Yearling steers 200 to 280kg sold from 300c to 622c/kg to restockers. Yearling steers 280 to 330kg made to 614c to average 562c/kg restockers. Yearling steers 330 to 400kg topped 600c to restockers and 540c/kg to Lot Feeders. Yearling steers 400 to 480kg sold from 480c to 538c/kg to Lot Feeders. Yearling steers over 480kg to 458c/kg to processors.

Yearling heifers under 200kg to 450c/kg to restockers. Yearling heifers 200 to 280kg made to 460c to Lot Feeders and 485c/kg to restockers. Yearling heifers 280 to 330kg made to 460c to restockers and 476c/kg to Lot Feeders. Yearling heifers 330 to 400kg topped 490c to Lot Feeders and 470ckg to restockers. Yearling heifers 400 to 480kg sold from 380c to 478c/kg to Lot Feeders. Yearling heifers over 480kg to 432c/kg to processors.

Grown steers 400 to 500kg to 450c to processors and 520c/kg to Lot Feeders. Grown steers 500 to 600kg to 514c to processors to average 463c/kg. Grown steers 600 to 750kg sold from 426c to 484c/kg to processors. Grown heifers over 540kg sold to 474c to Lot Feeders and 440c/kg to processors.

A fair sample of cows penned with the 3 score cows over 520kg to 410c/kg to processors. The 2 score cows 400 to 520kg sold from 222c to 370c/kg. Bulls 450 to 600kg topped 422c/kg. Bulls over 600kg to 444c/kg.

A total of 9556 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 610c/kg and averaged 517c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 626c/kg and averaged 552c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 610c/kg and averaged 552c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 600c/kg and averaged 520c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 540c/kg and averaged 506c/kg.

Fitzpatrick Earthmoving & Farming, Alva Downs, Dulacca sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 622c/kg, reaching a top of $1,703 to average $1,703.

Champion Livestock Co, Longway Station, Longreach sold Santa Gertrudis steers to 618c/kg, reaching a top of $1,512 to average $1,421.  The Santa Gertrudis heifers sold 460c/kg, reaching a top of $966 to average $966.

Coorada Pastoral Co, Coorada, Taroom sold Charolais cross steers to 610c/kg, reaching a top of $1,298 to average $1,113.

Wayne W Scriven, Hawthorne, Dulacca sold Angus cross steers to 600c/kg, reaching a top of $1,378 to average $1,378.  The Angus cross heifers sold to 460c/kg, reaching a top of $1,058 to average $1,058.

Bangor Cattle Co Pty Ltd, Bangor, Mungallala sold Brangus steers to 600c/kg, reaching a top of $1,989 to average $1,751.  The Charbray heifers sold to 456c/kg, reaching a top of $1,293 to average $1,138.

Glenrowan Grazing Co, Tipperary, Morven sold Braford cross steers to 580c/kg, reaching a top of $1,756 to average $1,623.

Lunar Pastoral Company, Weeallah, St George sold Angus steers to 570c/kg, reaching a top of $1,922 to average $1,656.

Cows in the 330-400kg range reached 364c/kg and averaged 310c/kg. Cows in the 400-500kg range topped at 385c/kg, averaging 359c/kg. Cows in the 500-600kg range topped at 406c/kg, averaging 382c/kg. Cows over 600kg topped at 410c/kg, averaging 396c/kg.

Mulianna Pastoral, Kiandra, Quilpie sold Santa Gertrudis cross cows to 405c/kg, reaching a top of $2,678 to average $2,374.
