NLRS Roma Store Sale report commentary:
Yarding 1506, Change -1964
Yardings dropped to the lowest level this year. Good rainfall in regions west of Roma helped boost restocker buyer confidence, with good quality light weight yearling steers gaining 19c/kg in places. Medium weight yearling steers returned to the paddock 13c dearer, while good quality lots to feedlot buyers added 6c/kg. Heavy feeder weight yearling steers lifted 8c/kg on average. A
large number of light weight yearling heifers were purchased by feedlots for backgrounding, while those in the medium weight yearling range, that were suitable for feed, gained 1c/kg.
Light weight yearling steers sold to 195c and averaged 191c, up 19c, while the D muscled lines averaged 148c, up 1c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed hit 183c and averaged 182c, up 6c, and plainer lines sold between 140c and 158c/kg. Those returning to the paddock topped at 186c, up 13c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed reached 185c and averaged 177c, up 8c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to feedlot buyers earned to 142c and averaged 129c, down 15c, while those to restockers topped at 142c and averaged 136c, down 4c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 158c and averaged 142c, up 1c/kg.
The store conditioned 2 score cows sold to 91c and averaged between 63c and 76c/kg. Good heavy weight 4 score cows topped at 155c and averaged 145c, up 5c/kg.

A total of 1660 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.
Weaners under 220kg topped at 195c/kg and averaged 157c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 195c/kg and averaged 157c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 192c/kg and averaged 153c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 186c/kg and averaged 183c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 185c/kg and averaging 175c/kg.
D & K Twist, Juandah Downs, Mungallala, sold Charolais-cross steers to 195c/kg for 247kg to return $483/head.
Catherine McRae, Dalkeith, Jackson, sold Angus-cross steers to 192c for 307kg to return $590. The Angus-cross heifers sold to 142c for 265kg to return $377.
W & R Taylor, Saramac Downs, Wallumbilla, sold 184c for 451kg to return $831.
D & W Jones, Nardoo, Injune, sold Charbray steers to 182c for 424kg to return $772.
Bungaban Pastoral Co, Old Juandah, Wandoan, sold Angus-cross steers to 170c for 444kg to return $755.
Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 158c/kg and averaged 142c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 158c/kg and averaged 134c/kg. Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 142c/kg and averaged 131c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 138c/kg and averaged 99c/kg.
Ridgewood Cattle Co, Ournie, Wandoan, sold Charolais-cross heifers to 156c for 352kg to return $550.
T & S Pukallus, Warrabinda, Roma, sold Santa heifers to 139c for 290kg to return $404.
D & D Warrian, Autumnvale, Injune, sold Cross Bred heifers to 130c for 298kg to return $388.
Cows over 500kg sold to 155c/kg and averaged 145c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at 141c/kg and averaged 105c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 140c/kg and averaged 81c/kg.
Cows and calves sold to $540/unit.
Bulls up to 400kg reached 130c/kg and average 89c/kg.
