Roma store sale 15 Oct 2019: Prices respond to shorter supply

STOCK were drawn from the local areas plus western districts. The regular panel of buyers were present and operating across all classes.

Prices generally responded to the shorter supply with improvements across a number of categories.

https://www.nh-foods.com.au/Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 11c/kg better. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 1c to 5c/kg dearer.

Yearling heifers to feed improved in price and heavy weight yearling heifers to processors averaged 25c/kg better, however some of the improvements were due to the better quality penned.

All classes of cows were in demand with gains of 7c to 19c/kg with plain condition lines improving the most.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to 304.2c with a good sample averaging 294c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed predominately averaged 290c with one consignment reaching 321.2c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 294c and made to 300.2c and processor classes averaged 299c and made to 302.2c/kg.

A few pens of good quality light weight yearling heifers to feed or backgrounders made to 270.2c, while processor lines averaged 222c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 258c and made to 270.2c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to processors made to 303.2c with a large sample averaging 287c/kg.

A handful of heavy grown steers to export made to 318.2c to average 312c and the occasional bullock made to 300.2c/kg. Medium weight poor condition cows averaged 179c and made to 194.2c/kg. Heavy weight 3 scores averaged 231c, while the best of the cows made to 255.2c to average 247c/kg.

Heavy bulls made to 284.2c/kg.

A total of 3,598 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Weaner steers under 220kg topped at 302c/kg and averaged 245c/kg, weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 304c/kg and averaged 276c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 300c/kg and averaged 276c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 321c/kg and averaged 288c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 310c/kg and averaging 286c/kg.

Ian Brumpton Holdings Pty Ltd, Oaklands, Roma sold Angus cross steers to 321c/kg, reaching a top of $1,178 to average $970. Angus cross heifers sold to 270c/kg, reaching a top of $782 to average $726.

PA Campbell, Prarievale, Augathella sold Santa cross steers to 306c/kg, reaching a top of $1,563 to average $1,108.

Bangor Cattle Co Pty Ltd, Bangor, Mungallala sold Charolais steers to 304c/kg, reaching a top of $1,329 to average $789.

Quilberry Pastoral Co sold Santa cross steers to 300c/kg, reaching a top of $1,841 to average $1,178. The Santa cross cows sold to 255c/kg, reaching a top of $1,660 to average $1,475.

TE O’Brien, Tyrone, Roma sold Droughtmaster cross steers to 300c/kg, reaching a top of $1,511 to average $1,382.

KF & KM Rule, Manning, Tambo sold Charolais cross steers to 300c/kg, reaching a top of $1,476 to average $1,417.

Peter Beale, Billin, Mungallala sold Shorthorn cross steers to 300c/kg, reaching a top of $1,300 to average $886.

ACF Trust, Trafford Park, Wallumbilla sold Santa cross steers to 300c/kg, reaching a top of $878 to average $878.

DF & CE McInnerney, Combarngo, Yuleba sold Brangus steers to 293c/kg, reaching a top of $1,202 to average $1,202. The Brahman heifers sold to 295c/kg, reaching a top of $1,352 to average $1,188.

Strathleigh Farming Co, Strathleigh, St George sold Charolais cross steers to 278c/kg, reaching a top of $931 to average $838. The Angus cross heifers sold 248c/kg, reaching a top of $657 to average $604.

Heifers under 220kg topped at 229c/kg and averaged 188c/kg, while heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 270c/kg and averaged 221c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 270c/kg, averaging 241c/kg. Heifers in the 350-450kg range topped at 303c/kg, averaging 274c/kg.

MA Marsh, Weemilah, Roma sold Droughtmaster cross heifers to 303c/kg, reaching a top of $1,338 to average $1,287.

WJ, WJ, NO & B Hartley, Bowen Downs, Aramac sold Brahman cross heifers to 301c/kg, reaching a top of $1,449 to average $1,003. The Brahman cross cows sold to 258c/kg, reaching a top of $1,549 to average $1,211.

WN & MM Jones, Norolle Downs, Roma sold Angus cross heifers to 296c/kg, reaching a top of $1,332 to average $1,217.

Lyndale Grazing Pty Ltd, Lyndale, Roma sold Simmental cross heifers to 270c/kg, reaching a top of $968 to average $968.

WB & MG Graham, Catherinvale, Roma sold Santa cross heifers to 244c/kg, reaching a top of $771 to average $754.

Cows in the 300-400kg range reached 225c/kg and averaged 157c/kg, while cows in the 400kg-500kg range reached 251c/kg and averaged 226c/kg. Cows over 500kg topped at 258c/kg, averaging 241c/kg.

SP Castles & LD Paynter, Gundoo, Charleville sold Charolais cross cows to 250c/kg, reaching a top of $2,126 to average $1,357.

BL & AM Rayment, Connemara, Jundah sold Droughtmaster cross cows to 249c/kg, reaching a top of $1,330 to average $964.
