Yarding 4606 Change -3358

CATTLE numbers fell at the Roma Store Sale with a total yarding of 4,606, down from the previous week by 3,358 head.

Cattle were drawn from the local supply area along with good numbers from the west.

Heifers accounted for almost half the mixed quality yarding, with prices reflective of the quality variations.

A good buying panel was present and included all processors and feedlots along with interstate restockers. Demand remained firm for quality cattle.

Steers eased in places while heifers saw improvements, however cows eased across all categories.

Light weight yearling steers under 200kg improved by 16c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed fell by 8c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg improved by 17c/kg. Heavy weight cows fell by 9c to 12c/kg. Light weight yearling steers under 200kg to restockers sold to 620.2c to average 547c/kg.

The largest sample of light weight yearling steers under 280kg to restockers made to 540.2c to average 488c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to feed sold to 474.2c to average 448c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 400kg to feed made to 446.2c to average 434c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers over 400kg to feed reached a top of 424.2c to average 411c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg to restockers reached a top of 560.2c to average 513c/kg. The largest sample of light weight yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers made to 526.2c to average 467c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers sold to 478.2c to average 445c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to restockers made to a top of 438.2c to average 424c/kg. Heavy weight grown steers sold to 358.2c to average 353c/kg. The best of the grown heifers reached a top of 346.2c to average 335c/kg.

Medium weight PTIC cows to restockers sold to 324.2c to average 318c/kg. The medium weight 3 score cows to processors sold to a top of 286.2c to average 278c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows made to 292.2c to average 280c/kg. A good sample of heavy weight bulls made to 332.2c to average 323c/kg. Cows and calves reached a top of $2600/unit.
