Yarding 3300 Change -500

Most of the cattle were sourced from local areas alongside a handful from northern NSW and the NT.

Despite a reduction in quality, restockers were still very active in the market however medium weight restocker pens could not maintain the levels of the previous week.

Heavy feeder steers and heifers were similar to last week and heavy grown steer to the processor held firm while a smaller yarding of cows eased 5c/kg. Light weight restocker steers saw prices to 596.2c to average 540c/kg. A reduction in quality for medium weight steers saw an easing in prices for both restocker and feeder pens, with restockers paying up to 522.2c to average 467c/kg. Heavy feeder steers sold to 450.2c to average 403c and heavy grown steers to the processor sold to 364.2c to average 357c/kg.

Light weight restocker heifers eased 30c with top prices at 442.2c to average around 403c/kg. Restocker heifers 280 to 330kg sold to 420.2c averaging 388c/kg. Prices for medium weight heifers softened by 18c to average 360c and heavy heifers lifted 11c, selling to 413.2c and averaging 390c/kg. Medium and heavy cows lost 5-10c with medium weights selling to 294.2c and good heavy cows over 520kg selling to 302.2c to average 294c/kg.

Young stud cows and calves sold to $3,700/unit.

A total of 3,360 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 568c/kg and averaged 544c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 596c/kg and averaged 524c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range

reached 534c/kg and averaged 481c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 522c/kg and averaged 440c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topping at 450c/kg

and averaging 407c/kg.

JML Farms, Brigalow Park, Bohena Creek sold Droughtmaster cross steers to 596c/kg, reaching a top of $1,258 to average $1,234. The Charolais cross heifers sold to 442c/kg, reaching a top of $1,017 to average $923.

M & K Hudson, Tongy, Mitchell sold Euro cross steers to 592c/kg, reaching a top of $1,660 to average $1,576. The Euro cross heifers sold to 420c/kg, reaching a top of $1,445 to average $1,124.

Tory Latham, Litani, Yuleba sold Charolais cross steers to 530c/kg, reaching a top of $1,497 to average $1,472.

M & B Dascombe, Greenhills, Taroom sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 522c/kg, reaching a top of $1,771 to average $1,704. The Santa Gertrudis cross heifers sold to 390c/kg, reaching a top of $1,364 to average $1,247.

D & S Hurley, Yarrawonga, Charleville sold Simmental cross steers to 522c/kg, reaching a top of $1,620 to average $1,583.
