The quality yarding included a number of larger single vendor lines which were mostly drawn from the local supply area. A good buying panel that included both restockers and feedlots was present and operating, with all regular processors also now operating. Southern processors continue to maintain a presence. Strong competition and feedlotter activity saw steer prices improve across all categories, however heifers mostly eased, while cows held firm. Light weight steers rose by 34c to 45c, medium weight steers to improved by 1c to 138c, while heavy feeders rose by 27c/kg. Light weight heifers under 280kg to restockers fell by 26c, while medium weight heifers fell by 15c to 29c/kg. Heavy weight prime cows fell by 1c while heavy bulls improved by 72c/kg.

Light weight steers under 200kg made to 722.2c to average 719c/kg. Yearling steers under 280kg to restockers made to 718.2c to average 667c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers reached 666.2c to average 618c/kg. Yearling steers under 400kg to feed made to 614.2c to average 562c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed reached a top of 512.2c to average 485c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg made to 576.2c to average 528c/kg. Yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers made to 628.2c to average 539c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers sold to 610.2c to average 521c/kg. Yearling heifers under 400kg to restockers reached a top of 500.2c to average 480c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to restockers made to 486.2c to average 457c/kg.

Limited numbers of grown steers and heifers were yarded which saw grown steers reach 413.2c to average 392c/kg and grown heifers reach 395.2c to average 382c/kg. Heavy weight prime cows made to 397.2c to average 381c/kg. A selection of heavy weight bulls made to 359.2c to average 332c/kg. PTIC Red tag cows sold at open auction to $2,050/head while the small number of cows and calves sold to a top of $2,325/unit.

Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 722c/kg and averaged 717c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 718c/kg and averaged 660c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 666c/kg and averaged 611c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 614c/kg and averaged 554c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topping at 518c/kg and averaging 476c/kg.

Warren Point Pastoral Company, Warren Point, Mitchell sold Droughtmaster cross steers to 684c/kg reaching a top of $2,176 to average $1,847. The Hereford cross heifers sold to 456c/kg reaching a top of $1,272 to average $1,123.
