Roma store sale 28 May 2024: Market eases with mixed quality yarding

All the regular processor feedlotters and backgrounders present. With a mixed quality yarding the market could not maintain the levels of the previous sale.

Light weight yearling steers under 200kg topped 448c to average 410c/kg. Yearling steers 200 to 280kg sold from 310c to 418c/kg. Yearling steers 280 to 330kg sold from 276c to 398c/kg. Yearling steers 330 to 400kg with the majority selling from 300c to 398c/kg. Yearling steers 400 to 480kg sold from 270c to 334c/kg.

Light weight heifers under 200kg topped 318c/kg. Yearling heifers 200 to 280kg sold from 202c to 312c/kg. Yearling heifers 280 to 330kg averaged 289c topping at 322c/kg. Yearling heifers 330 to 400kg made to 302c and averaged 284c/kg. Yearling heifers 400 to 480kg topped at 288c/kg.

Grown steers 500 to 600kg improved 5c and made to 290c/kg. Bullocks over 600kg also topped 290c an increase of 16c/kg. Grown heifers over 540kg sold from 200c to 260c/kg. Once again another top draft prime condition cows on offer. The 2 score cows 400 to 520kg made to 220c/kg. The 3 score cows over 520kg sold to 240c/kg.

The best of the heavy weight bulls 272c/kg.

Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 390c/kg and averaged 383c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 448c/kg and averaged 374c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 418c/kg and averaged 351c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 390c/kg and averaged 329c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 350c/kg and averaged 311c/kg.

Barbara Plains Grazing, Barbara Plains, Wyandra sold Simmental steers to 418c/kg, reaching a top of $1,479 to average $1,308.

RP & EA Murphy, Prairie Flats, Charleville sold Charolais cross steers to 418c/kg, reaching a top of $1,137 to average $1,049.

Derbyshire Downs Pastoral Co Pty Ltd, Derbyshire Downs, Augathella sold Charolais cross steers to 398c/kg, reaching a top of $1,432 to average $1,304.  The Charolais cross heifers sold to 322c/kg, reaching a top of $1,707 to average $977.

Camelot Grazing Co, Camelot, Yuleba sold Angus steers to 392c/kg, reaching a top of $1,292 to average $1,110.  The Angus cross heifers sold to 295c/kg, reaching a top of $1,275 to average $890.

JJ Tully, Congie, Quilpie sold Brangus cross steers to 390c/kg, reaching a top of $1,201 to average $1,045.

S & R White Family Trust, Golden Green, Roma sold Angus cross steers to 386c/kg, reaching a top of $1,352 to average $1,254.

RF & DK Hams, Cooly, St George sold Charolais cross steers to 384c/kg, reaching a top of $1,263 to average $1,260.  The Charolais cross heifers sold to 306c/kg, reaching a top of $931 to average $921.

Heifers under 200kg topped at 150c/kg and averaged 150c/kg, while heifers in the 200-280kg range topped at 318c/kg and averaged 258c/kg. Heifers in the 280-330kg range topped at 308c/kg, averaging 268c/kg. Heifers in the 330-400kg range topped at 322c/kg, averaging 268c/kg. Heifers in the 400-500kg range topped at 300c/kg, averaging 265c/kg.
