Roma sale 21 June 2022: Market eases for 4064 head yarding

Cattle were mostly drawn from the local supply area and included some quality local lines. A good buying panel was present and operating including all regular processors. Steers accounted for over half of the yarding with limited numbers of heavy weight steers and bullocks yarded. Competition remained strong for quality cattle, however overall prices mostly eased across the yarding. Light weight steers to restockers fell by 26c, while medium weight steers to restockers fell by 10c to 12c/kg. Light weight heifers to restockers under 280kg fell by 58c, while medium weight heifers under 400kg to feed improved by 16c/kg. Heavy weight cows fell by 2c/kg.

Light weight steers under 200kg made to 798.2c to average 688c/kg. Yearling steers under 280kg to restockers make to 746.2c to average 675c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers sold to 724.2c to average 645c/kg. Yearling steers under 400kg to restockers made to 642.2c to average 609c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed reached a top of 566.2c to average 530c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg to restockers made to 600.2c to average 518c/kg. Yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers made to 588.2c to average 544c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers sold to 562.2c to average 539c/kg. Yearling heifers under 400kg to restockers reached a top of 560.2c to average 544c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 504.2c to average 482c/kg.

Heavy weight grown steers reached a top of 418.2c to average 418c/kg. The best of the grown heifers under 540kg made to 416.2c to average 393c/kg. Heavy weight prime cows reached a top of 364.2c to average 358c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 356.2c to average 348c/kg. Cows and calves sold to a top of $3,025/unit.
