The second sale of the year continued an upwards trend with just over 7300 head of cattle and a continuing strong market.

Quality lines of local steers and heifers fetched a high price with all the regular processors, lotfeeders and backgrounders present and actively competing for cattle in the laneways.

Cattle were drawn predominantly from the local Maranoa supply district including Roma, Mungallala, Morven, Jackson and Mitchell.

Multiple lines were also consigned from as far afield as Blackall in the north and Mungindi in the south.

The Russells out of Mungallala offloaded a line of Charolais cross steers and heifers.

Operating out of ‘Wodonga’, the run of Charolais cross steers fetched a straight 598c/kg over three pens to weigh an average 286kg for a return of $1,712/hd.

The line was consigned through Watkins and Co agents Leo Shaw, Andrew Busiko and Charles Gleeson.
