Under continued firm market, strong sales persisted throughout the Roma Saleyards Tuesday Sale, with just under 9,000 head of cattle yarded.

Steers dominated the yarding, with large runs and quality pens contributing to a hot market, following the momentum from last week’s sale.

Regular processors, feedlotters, and backgrounders filled the laneways under a sheet of early morning fog, all actively competing for pens amidst strong current demand.

The quality and reach of cattle yarded once again solidified Roma Saleyards as the marketplace of choice.

The yarding was drawn primarily from the local supply district, including Roma, Wallumbilla, Muckadilla as well as Quilpie, Thargomindah and Augathella.

Cattle were also consigned from as far afield as Alice Springs in the Northern Territory and Marla in South Australia.

Chad Scott from Balonne Plains, St George offloaded a quality run of Angus cross steers fetching 500c/kg.

Two pens of Angus cross steers made 538c/kg to weigh 473kg for an average return of $2,548/hd.

A pen of Angus cross steers fetched 528c/kg weighing an average 484kg to make 2,556/hd.

The line was consigned through GDL, seen here with GDL agent Anthony Hyland and vendor Chad Scott.

David and Heather Moore of ‘Strathfield Pastoral’, offloaded a mammoth run of 441 Droughtmaster cross steers at today’s sale.

Watkins and Co.

Based out of McKinlay, the line of Droughtmaster cross fetched an average 472c/kg weighing in at 421kg for a return of $1,990/hd.

Five pens of Droughtmaster cross steers made a straight 490c/kg to weigh 441kg for an average return of $2,161/hd.
