Roma store sale 16 Apr 2019: Price ease on selective buying

TopX agent Carl Warren and Angus Stinson, Moonya, Mt Abundance with the Angus steers. The steers sold to 302c/kg, reaching a top of $668 to average $587.

Buyer attendance was generally good, however most were operating selectively, especially on the light weight classes.

The better end of the light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 32c less, and poor quality lines reduced in price by 48c/kg.

Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 8c/kg cheaper, while heavy weight yearling steers to feed received strong support.

The supply of light weight yearling heifers exceeded demand and prices decreased by 48c/kg and considerably more in places. However, medium weight yearling heifers to feed experienced decreases of approximately 20c/kg.

The mixed quality yarding of cows generally received only quality related price changes.

Mixed sex calves averaged 196c, with some steer calves reaching 302.2c/kg. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 263c, with sales to 293.2c, and poor quality lines averaged 201c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 281c and made to 298.2c, and the lesser quality classes 236c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 287.2c, with majority making approximately 284c/kg.

The largest numbers of light weight yearling heifers averaged 188c and made to 214.2c, with poor quality lines making close to 132c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to a top of 271.2c, with a fair sample averaging 232c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 250c to average 229c/kg. Medium weight poor condition cows averaged 128c and made to 146.2c, while 2 score cows averaged close to 170c and made to 197.2c/kg. The best of the heavy cows made to 229.2c to average 217c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 258.2c/kg.

Weaner steers under 220kg topped at 302c/kg and averaged 233c/kg, weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 298c/kg and averaged 250c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 298c/kg and averaged 260c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 295c/kg and averaged 277c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 287c/kg and averaging 266c/kg.

Cows and calves hit $620/unit.

Peter & Kate Arthy, Megine, Roma sold Angus cross steers to 298c/kg, reaching a top of $832 to average $832. The Angus cross heifers sold to 220c/kg, reaching a top $566 to average $566.

SC & TC Bond, Borromore, Roma sold Angus cross steers to 295c/kg, reaching a top of $1,088 to average $968. The Droughtmaster cross heifers sold to 210c/kg, reaching a top of $666 to average $666.

Neven Grazing Pty Ltd, Blue Hills, Injune sold Simbrah steers to 292c/kg, reaching a top of $1,210 to average $866. The Simbrah heifers sold to 250c/kg, reaching a top of $840 to average $683.

BJ & WR Taylor, Marjundale, Injune sold Charolais cross steers to 289c/kg, reaching a top of $1,044 to average $977.

S & R White Family Trust, Mt Saltbush, Roma sold Angus cross steers to 288c/kg, reaching a top of $635 to average $552. The Angus cross heifers sold to 196c/kg, reaching a top of $428 to average $394.

Heifers under 220kg topped at 214c/kg and averaged 159c/kg, while heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 228c/kg and averaged 173c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 260c/kg, averaging 204c/kg. Heifers in the 350-450kg range topped at 271c/kg, averaging 222c/kg.

WN & MM Jones, Norolle Downs, Roma sold Angus cross heifers to 260c/kg, reaching a top of $988 to average $929.

ACBH, Barkly Downs, Mt Isa sold Charolais cross heifers to 237c/kg, reaching a top of $923 to average $832.

WA & KE Freeman, Meeleebee Downs, Wallumbilla sold Santa cross heifers to 214c/kg, reaching a top of $491 to average $389.

CF & D Walsh, Venturah, Roma sold Santa cross heifers to 208c/kg, reaching a top of $568 to average $461.
