Yarding: 8402 Change: -2680
A reduced yarding on last week’s mammoth sale saw just over 8400 head of cattle sold in a continued active market.
The market was firm across the board and responded positively to quality runs of cattle with the bullock job running away.
All the regular processors, feedlotters, and backgrounders were present and actively competing for pens amidst the current cattle demand.
Roma Saleyards once again solidified itself as the marketplace of choice with its quality and wide selection of cattle on offer.
With a widespread drawing across the whole of Queensland, the yarding featured an abundance of pens from the Maranoa supply district including Euthulla and Morven.
Multiple runs of cattle were also consigned from as far north as Mount Isa, Muttaburra and Aramac as well as Alice Springs in the Northern Territory.
Yarrawonga Cattle Co offloaded a quality run of Santa Gertrudis steers to average 429c/kg to weigh 635kg for a return of $2,726/hd.
Based in Wallumbilla, the top pen of Santa Gertrudis steers made 434c/kg weighing in at 641kg to fetch $2,782/hd.
Two pens made a straight 426c/kg to weigh 646kg for a return of $2,760/hd.
The line was consigned through Elders Roma with livestock agent Peter Fleming.
Winter Cattle co offloaded a run of Santa Gertrudis cross and Angus cross steers for an average of 528c/kg weighing 315kg for a return of $1,663/hd.
