Roma store sale 14 July 2020: Southern demand continues in 5283 yarding

Cattle were mostly drawn from the local supply area, and the overall quality of the yarding varied. Steers accounted for over half the yarding.

The good buying panel including southern buyers, however not all regular processors were operating.

The market was quality driven with prices and competition remaining firm for sought after lines.

Light weight steers fell in price by 21c to 26c, while medium weight feeder steers improved by 18c to 29c/kg. Medium weight heifers to feed also saw improvements of 3c to 26c. Heavy weight cows fell by 4c to 13c/kg. Calves reached a top of 515.2c to average 467c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers under 200kg to restockers made to 482.2c to average 458c/kg. Light weight yearling steers under 280kg to restockers also made to 482.2c to average 435c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 400kg to feed sold to 438.2c to average 404c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers over 400kg to feed made to a top of 410.2c to average 378c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg to restockers reached a top of 452.2c to average 428c/kg. A large sample of light weight yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers made to 440.2c to average 407c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers sold to 410.2c to average 387c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 400kg to feed made to 384.2c to average 375c/kg.

The best of the medium weight grown steers sold to 390.2c to average 390c/kg.

The best of the grown heifers reached a top of 322.2c to average 295c/kg. Medium weight 3 score cows sold to a top of 286.2c to average 277c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows made to 285.2c to average 280c/kg. Heavy weight 4 score cows reached a top of 291.2c to average 290c/kg.

The largest sample of heavy weight bulls made to 322.2c to average 307c/kg.

Weaner steers under 220kg topped at 515c/kg and averaged 453c/kg, weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 482c/kg and averaged 426c/kg. Steers in the 280- 350kg range reached 432c/kg and averaged 405c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 438c/kg and averaged 392c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 410c/kg and averaging 368c/kg. Cows and calves hit $1,675/unit.
