Roma sale 27 Feb 2024: Yarding lifts slightly to 5734 head

Roma Agents yarded 5,734 head.

Cattle were drawn from far western Qld, the Warrego and the local supply district.

All the regular processors, feedlotters and backgrounders present and active with the well bred lines receiving the most attention.

Light weight yearling steers under 200kg sold from 438c to 452c to average 446c/kg. Yearling steers 200 to 280kg averaged 430c and sold from 322c to 506c/kg. Yearling steers 280 to 330kg a large number sold from 288 to 444c/kg. Yearling steers 330 to 400kg made to 446c to average 392c/kg. Yearling steers 400 to 480kg sold well to 388c to average 342c with the over 480kg making to 336c to average 329c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg sold to 296c and increase of almost 20/kg. Yearling heifers 200 to 280kg also sold well to 298c also up 20/kg. Yearling heifers 280 to 330kg averaged 287c selling to 324c/kg. Yearling heifers 330 to 400kg made to 334c/kg to feed. Yearling heifers 400 to 480kg sold to 322c and averaged 291c/kg. Grown steers 400 to 500kg made to 280c with the 500 to 600kg making to 311c also the over 600kg bullocks selling to 311c/kg. Grown heifers over 540kg made to 292c/kg. The 2 score cows sold from 120c to 248c/kg.

The 3 score cows over 520kg topped at 270c/kg.

The best of the heavy weight bulls to 305c/kg.

Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 452c/kg and averaged 417c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 506c/kg and averaged 417c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 478c/kg and averaged 389c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 434c/kg and averaged 372c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 372c/kg and averaged 347c/kg.

Champion Livestock, Longway Station, Longreach sold Santa Gertrudis steers to 506c/kg, reaching a top of $1,364 to average $1,364.  The Santa Gertrudis heifers sold to 298c/kg, reaching a top of $867 to average $867.

BP & AP Curran, Talleyrand, Longreach sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 478c/kg, reaching a top of $1,612 to average $1,323.

PJ & ME Brennan, For Far, Mitchell sold Charolais cross steers to 476c/kg, reaching a top of $1,177 to average $1,048.

Toby Wass, Barcaldine sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 462c/kg, reaching a top of $1,620 to average $1,127.

Alcurah Creek Grazing, Alcurah, Roma sold Charolais cross steers to 442c/kg, reaching a top of $1,357 to average $1,213.  The Charolais cross heifers sold to 308c/kg, reaching a top of $1381 to average $856.

Michael & Carla Carroll, Luckona Road, Wallumbilla sold Angus cross steers to 438c/kg, reaching a top of $1,140 to average $971. The Angus cross heifers to 296c/kg reaching a top of $725 to average $577.

LJ & SG Hanna, Terrarara, Mitchell sold Santa Gertrudis steers sold to 432c/kg, reaching a top of $1,467 to average $1,389.  The Santa Gertrudis heifers sold to 290c/kg, reaching a top of $927 to average $829.

PW & YR Johnson, Innisvale, Injune sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 412c/kg, reaching a top of $1,733 to average $1,438.  The Santa Gertrudis cross heifers to 326c/kg, reaching a top of $1,318 to average $1,189.

Stormhill Contracting, Cooraki, Surat sold Charolais cross steers to 412c/kg, reaching a top of $1,400 to average $1,351.  The Charolais cross heifers sold to 312c/kg, reaching a top of $1,145 to average $1,025.

Kindee Pastoral Co., Muya, Mitchell sold Charolais cross steers to 380c/kg, reaching a top of $1,567 to average $1,507.

Angellala Downs Pastoral Company, Angellala Downs, Morven sold Angus cross steers to 378c/kg, reaching a top of $1,358, to average $1,356. The Santa Gertrudis cross heifers sold to 294c/kg, reaching a top of $989 to average $964.

RP & TM Sevil, Kenilworth, Mitchell sold Santa Gertrudis cross steers to 368c/kg, reaching a top of $1,631, averaging $1,483.

Heifers under 200kg topped at 296c/kg and averaged 255c/kg, while heifers in the 200-280kg range topped at 310c/kg and averaged 276c/kg. Heifers in the 280-330kg range topped at 324c/kg, averaging 278c/kg. Heifers in the 330-400kg range topped at 334c/kg, averaging 293c/kg. Heifers in the 400-500kg range topped at 326c/kg, averaging 289c/kg.
