Roma store sale 12 June 2019: Heifer rates lift

Cameron Colley of Brucedale, Roma with Elders agent Peter Fleming with the four pens of Charolais cross heifers. The heifers sold to a top of 242c/kg, reaching a top of $695 to average $612. The Charolais cross steers sold to 300c/kg, reaching a top of $948 to average $787.

Yarding 4010 Change -580

Cattle were drawn from the usual supply area and a good panel of buyers was present, however not all were operating.

The overall quality of the yarding was good. Again, demand was strong in isolated patches for top of the line yearling cattle.

Light weight yearling steers saw prices ease, while the heavy end of the yearling steers saw improvements. Heifers primarily increased overall, while medium weight cows improved slightly.

The largest sample of light weight yearling steers under 280kg increased by 1c/kg. A fair sample of medium weight yearling steers under 330kg eased by 2c to 63c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 400kg to feed increased by 4c to 15c/kg.

The largest number of light weight yearling heifers under 280kg remained unchanged. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers increased by 10c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows increased by 6c and the medium weight 3 score cows sold 3c/kg dearer. Heavy weight 2 score cows were unchanged from last week, while the heavy weight 3 score cows eased by 9c/kg.

The largest sample of light weight yearling steers under 280kg sold to 328.2c to average 282c/kg. A fair sample of medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers sold to 310.2c to average 290c/kg. The best of the medium weight yearling steers under 400kg to feed sold to 282.2c to average 273c, while heavy weight yearling steers over 400kg to feed made to 293.2c to average 286c/kg.

A good sample of light weight yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers sold to 242.2c to average 229c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers made to 244.2c to average 238c/kg. A small sample of heavy weight yearling heifers under 400kg to feed sold to 252.2c to average 236c/kg. There were limited numbers of grown steers yarded.

The best of the grown heifers sold to 255c to average 229c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows made to 186.2c to average 173c, while the medium weight 3 score cows sold to 206.2c to average 199c/kg. Heavy weight 2 score cows sold to 170c to average 167c and the heavy weight 3 score cows made to 211.2c to average 194c/kg.

The best of the bulls over 600kg to live export made to 270.2c to average 263c/kg.
