Roma store sale 2 July 2019: Interstate buyers boost demand

Last week’s line of Charolais and Angus steers from Kindee Pastoral Co, Muya, Mitchell. The Charolais steers sold to 324c/kg, reaching a top of $1,222 to average $918.

Numbers reduced by 448 head for the first store sale in the new financial year at Roma, however the supply of stock still remained relatively high at 6927.

Young cattle were in the largest numbers along with a handful of grown steers and heifers , and a relatively large selection of cows.

Buyer attendance was good and included some additional interstate operators on the young cattle, plus interstate processors were also very active in the cow section.

Average prices for most classes of yearling steers generally remained close to the previous weeks level, however top money improved on a number of categories.

Yearling heifers averaged 2c to 12c/kg better. All classes of cows were noticeably dearer with improvements of 8c to 15c/kg.

Steer calves returning to the paddock made to 312.2c, and heifer calves made to 240.2c with a good sample of mixed sex calves at 257c/kg. Light weight yearling steers sold to restockers at an average of 281c with sales to 302.2c/kg. Yearling steers in the 280kg to 330kg weight range averaged 282c and made to 292.2c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to a top of 306.2c with a large sample at 285c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 304.2c with most around 289c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers to restockers or background made to 254.2c with a large number averaging 237c/kg. The largest sample of medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 247c with some to 263.2c/kg.

A handful of bullocks made to 293.2c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 181c and made to the occasional 195.2c/kg.

Heavy 2 score cows averaged 191c, and the 3 scores 211c/kg.

Good heavy cows made to 237.2c to average close to 230c/kg.

Heavy bulls made to 261.2c/kg.

Weaner steers under 220kg topped at 312c/kg and averaged 266c/kg, weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 302c/kg and averaged 274c/kg.

Steers in the 280- 350kg range reached 306c/kg and averaged 278c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 294c/kg and averaged 269c/kg.

Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 304c/kg and averaging 284c/kg.

Cows and calves hit $720/unit.

Reynella Grazing Co, Reynella, Charleville sold Simmental steers to 306c/kg, reaching a top of $1,172 to average $961.

Wythburn Partnership, Wythburn, Injune sold Angus cross steers to 304c/kg, reaching a top of $1,394 to average $1,333.

JR & VM Brawne, Yerura, Meandarra sold Angus steers to 302c/kg, reaching a top of $809 to average $678. The Angus heifers sold to 238c/kg, reaching a top of $543 to average $533.

Derbyshire Downs Pastoral Co Pty Ltd, Derbyshire Downs, Augathella sold Charolais steers to 300c/kg, reaching a top of $1,050 to average $947.

Des & Wendy Jones, Evergreen, Injune sold Charolais cross steers to 294c/kg, reaching a top of $999 to average $792. The Charolais cross heifers sold to 254c/kg, reaching a top of $716 to average $637.

C & D Gauld, Bethlee, Drillham sold Santa cross steers to 292c/kg, reaching a top of $997 to average $997.

R Loughnan, Alicker, Roma sold Charolais cross steers to 288c/kg, reaching a top of $1,013 to average $968. The Charolais cross heifers sold to 250c/kg, reaching a top of $859 to average $816.

WG & EE Jackson, Maintop North, Injune sold Angus steers to 288c/kg, reaching a top of $987 to average $829. The Angus cross heifers sold to 266c/kg, reaching a top of $768 to average $687.

Dart Pastoral Co, Springbok, Injune sold Charolais steers to 287c/kg, reaching a top of $731 to average $650. The Charolais heifers sold to 250c/kg, reaching a top of $575 to average $567.

RJ Ross, Glenaubyn, Drillham sold Simmental cross steers to 284c/kg, reaching a top $815 to average $744. The Simmental cross heifers sold to 245c/kg, reaching a top of $576 to average $565.

GA, MA & SA Maunder, Macarra, Wallumbilla sold Angus cross steers to 282c/kg, reaching a top of $1,121 to average $951.

Heifers under 220kg topped at 246c/kg and averaged 212c/kg, while heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 254c/kg and averaged 221c/kg.

Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 266c/kg, averaging 224c/kg.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range topped at 284c/kg, averaging 242c/kg.

Bassett Cattle Co, Jennavale, Roma sold Santa cross heifers to 266c/kg, reaching a top of $1,056 to average $1,023.

DW & JL Sullivan, Studley, Roma sold Angus cross heifers to 260c/kg, reaching a top of $1,066 to average $849.

BJ & WR Taylor, Marjundale, Injune sold Charolais cross heifers to 257c/kg, reaching a top of $1,025 to average $912.

J & N Dingle, Belford, Injune sold Santa cross heifers to 250c/kg, reaching a top of $1,088 to average $925.

Gwenbrook Farms sold Charolais cross heifers to 247c/kg, reaching a top of $597 to average $565.

Moyallen Pastoral Co, Moyallen, Morven sold Angus cross heifers to 240c/kg, reaching a top of $440 to average $373.

Cows in the 300-400kg range reached 200c/kg and averaged 154c/kg, while cows in the 400kg-500kg range reached 230c/kg and averaged 181c/kg.

Cows over 500kg topped at 252c/kg, averaging 210c/kg.
