GDL Roma agent Nick Shorten and vendors Brenton and Pat Smith with a line of AJ & SJ Smith steers. The steers sold to 604c/kg, reaching a top of $1,525 to average $1,414. The heifers sold to 508c/kg, reaching a top of $1,386 to average $1,226.

Cattle were drawn from the usual supply area, with several large quality single vendor lines yarded, and steers accounted for over half the yarding.

A larger buying panel, with increased southern and feedlot buyer numbers and all regular processors, were operating to firm competition.

The overall quality of the yarding was good, with prices reflective of any quality variations.

Light weight cattle were present in limited numbers and were the only steer category that eased in price, down by 37c/kg. Light weight yearling steers under 280kg improved by 15c to 34c, while medium weight yearling steers under 330kg rose by 9c to 34c/kg.

The large number of medium to heavy feeder steers yarded included quality single vendor lines and sold to strong demand improving by 14c to 26c/kg.

Yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers were there largest sample of heifers yarded and improved by 22c/kg. Cows eased across the board with medium weight cows down by 2c to 16c, and heavy weight cows falling by 5c to 11c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers under 200kg to restockers sold to 615.2c to average 544c/kg. The largest sample of light weight yearling steers under 280kg to restockers made to 604.2c to average 510c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to feed sold to 490.2c to average 465c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 400kg to feed made to 482.2c to average 448c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers over 400kg to feed reached a top of 450.2c to average 434c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg to restockers reached a top of 522.2c to average 483c/kg. The largest sample of light weight yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers made to 522.2c to average 495c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers sold to 446.2c to average 421c/kg.

The best of the medium weight grown steers sold to 370.2c to average 366c/kg.

The best of the grown heifers reached a top of 384.2c to average 337c/kg. Medium weight store cows to restockers sold to 298.2c to average 286c, while the medium weight 3 score cows sold to a top of 314.2c to average 301c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows made to 321.2c to average 306c/kg.

The best of the heavy weight bulls made to 351.2c to average 342c/kg.

Cows and calves reached a top of $2520/unit.
