Roma sale 8 March 2022: Numbers jump to 5171

TopX Roma Agent Sarah Packer with vendor Imogen Wathen, Golden Pastoral Holdings, Yuleba donated three Santa cross steers to Lifeflight. The steers sold to 474c/kg reaching top of $2,576.

Cattle were drawn from a wider supply area, including Western Queensland and the overall quality varied.

Steers accounted for over half of the yarding with increased numbers of light weight steers from the West, additionally good numbers of PTIC females were yarded which sold at open auction to strong demand.

A large buying panel with increased numbers of restockers was present and operating, including all regular processors.

The market varied with steers mostly easing while heifers saw improvements. Cows also eased in price.

Light weight steer under 280kg improved by 35c, while medium weight steers to restockers fell by 34c to 47c/kg.Heavy weight steers to feed eased by 4c/kg.

Light weight heifers improved by 13c to 83c/kg. Medium weight heifers to restockers improved by 17c to 35c/kg. Heavy weight heifers to feed fell by 1c/kg. Medium weight cows eased by 16c to 19c, while heavy weight cows fell by 7c to 21c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers under 280kg to restockers made to 886.2c to average 795c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers sold to 885.2c to average 683c/kg.

Yearling steers under 400kg to restockers made to 768.2c to average 634c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed reached a top of 598.2c to average 566c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg to restockers made to 780.2c to average 746c/kg. Yearling heifers under 280 kg to restockers made to 740.2c to average 685c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers sold to 668.2c to average 646c/kg. Yearling heifers under 400kg to restockers reached a top of 642.2c to average 611c/kg, while heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 550.2c to average 493c/kg. The best of the heavy weight grown steers made to 462.2c to average 455c/kg.

Grown heifers to feed made to 480c to average 467c/kg. PTIC heifers sold to a top of $2,775/head. while PTIC cows sold to a top of $2,500/head. Medium weight prime cows made to 379.2c to average 379c/kg. Heavy weight prime cows reached a top of 385.2c to average 377c/kg.

Heavy weight bulls made to 372.2c to average 366c/kg.

Cows and calves sold to a top of $3,300/unit.

A total of 5,171 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Weaner steers under 220kg topped at 886c/kg and averaged 811c/kg, weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 886c/kg and averaged 786c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 780c/kg and averaged 671c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 658c/kg and averaged 597c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 598c/kg and averaging 544c/kg.

GJ & RA Murphy, Koreelah, Charleville sold Santa cross steers to 850c/kg reaching a top of $2,319 to average $2,056.

KH & MJ Hiscock, Holly Downs, Augathella sold Brangus steers to 838c/kg reaching a top of $2,095 to average $2,053. The Angus cross heifers sold to 718c/kg reaching a top of $1,933 to average $1,636.

John Allwood, Thomond, Yuleba sold Angus cross steers to 830c/kg reaching a top of $1,704 to average $1,703. The Angus cross heifers sold to 740c/kg reaching a top of $1,498 to average $1,498.

SJ Todd Constructions, Brigalow Downs, Bollon sold Charolais cross steers to 780c/kg reaching a top of $2,272 to average $2,255.

Cows in the 300-400kg range reached 350c/kg and averaged 263c/kg, while cows in the 400kg-500kg range reached 395c/kg and averaged 343c/kg. Cows over 500kg topped at 395c/kg, averaging 361c/kg.
