Roma sale 22 Feb 2022: Firm market for 4037

Elders Coonamble Agent Greg Knaggs and vendor Scott Ridley with a pen of Talegar, Coonamble Brangus steers. The steers sold to 872c/kg reaching a top of $2,190 to average $1,927.

Cattle continue to be drawn from the usual supply area and the overall quality was down on the previous week, however numbers of heavy steers and quality finished cows were yarded again.

A good buying panel was present and operating with all regular processors active.

Steers and heifers mostly improved with some variations in places.

Light weight steers improved by 6c to 29c, while medium weight steers to feed fell by 36c/kg.

Heavy weight steers to feed improved by 25c/kg.

Light weight heifers to restockers improved by 28c/kg. Medium weight heifers to restockers improved by 15c, while heavy weight heifers to feed improved by 60c/kg.

Cows saw solid gains with medium weight prime cows up by 10c to 11c, and heavy weight prime cows up by 6c to 10c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers under 280kg to restockers made to 872.2c to average 781c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers sold to 772.2c to average 696c/kg.

Yearling steers under 400kg to feed made to 682.2c to average 599c/kg.

Heavy weight yearling steers to feed reached a top of 620.2c to average 574c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg to restockers made to 750.2c to average 689c/kg. Yearling heifers under 280 kg made to 700c to average 660c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers sold to 682.2c to average 632c/kg. Yearling heifers under 400kg to feed reached a top of 610.2c to average 590c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 612.2c to average 558c/kg.

The best of the grown steers made to 465.2c to average 451c/kg. The best of the grown heifers made to 488.2c to average 464c/kg. Medium weight prime cows made to 408.2c to average 406c/kg. Heavy weight prime cows reached a top of 413.2c to average 407c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 394.2c to average 378c/kg.

Cows and calves sold to a top of $3,360/unit.

Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 772c/kg and averaged 665c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 664c/kg and averaged 589c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 630c/kg and averaging 552c/kg.

AF, GR & LA Seawright, Inverary, Yuleba sold Hereford cross steers to 808c/kg reaching a top of $2,179 to average $2,084. The Hereford cross heifers sold to 670c/kg reaching a top of $1,769 to average $1,557.

AR & TM Marsh, Hillsborough Station, St George sold Angus cross steers to 772c/kg reaching a top of $2,368 to average $2,209.

Kelvin Hafey, Mt Blunt, Tambo sold Santa cross steers to 728c/kg reaching a top of $2,695 to average $2,341.
