Roma Store 9 Aug 2016: $590,000 worth of cattle sold in one minute

Good numbers of store cattle were again penned. Majority of consignments were drawn from south west Queensland, plus some good lines from central west parts of the State.

Plenty of restocker and feedlot buyers were at the sale. A Roma Saleyards record was broken when over $500,000 worth of cattle was sold in just one minute. A major feedlot buyer purchased 15 pens of heavy weight feeders steers all at once for 370c to total $590,000.

Light weight yearling steers hit 424c and averaged between 366c and 405c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers sold to 398c going onto oats crops, while those going to feed and the paddock averaged between 374c and 385c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed earned to 390c and averaged 369c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers reached 394c and averaged between 358c and 382c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers sold to 385c and averaged between 325c and 365c/kg. Heavy 4 score cows topped at 290c and medium weight 3 score cows reached 264c and averaged 255c/kg. Cows and calves topped at $1710/unit.

 

Roma light steers hit 424c/kg

A total of 7029 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 422c/kg and averaged 398c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 424c/kg and averaged 402c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 422c/kg and averaged 391c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 396c/kg and averaged 370c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 390c/kg and averaging 360c/kg.

R & J Davidson, Hillandale, Wandoan, sold Santa steers to 424c/kg for 248kg to return $1053/head.

Iwona Partnership, Iwona, Mitchell, sold Simbrah-cross steers to 421c for 301kg to return $1271. The Simbrah-cross heifers sold to 394c for 275kg to return $1086.

N & S Courtice, Ladas Downs, Glenmorgan, sold Angus steers to 420c for 291kg to return $1225. The Angus-cross heifers sold to 394c for 303kg to return $1197.

R & M Cochrane, Sugarloaf Creek, Roma, sold Hereford-cross steers to 416c for 221kg to return $923. The Hereford-cross heifers sold to 380c for 242kg to return $922.

Seawright Investments, Comet Downs, Injune, sold Santa-cross steers to 414c for 271kg to return $1126.

F, S, & S Counsell, Delta South, Barcaldine, sold Angus-cross steers to 414c for 235kg to return $976.

Malabar Holdings, Arlington, Mitchell, sold Charolais-cross steers to 412c for 241kg to return $994.

Layershire, Koorandai, Roma, sold Angus-cross steers to 410c for 235kg to return $965.

Carbene Grazing Co, Carbene, Bollon, sold Charolais-cross steers to 408c for 310kg to return $1267.

Bailey Properties, Paradise Downs, Blackall, sold Charolais-cross steers to 404c for 275kg to return $1113. The Charbray-cross heifers sold to 390c for 324kg to return $1267.

V, K, & A Hafemeister, Oakleigh, Injune, sold Angus-cross steers to 404c for 239kg to return $968.

Mount Cornish Grazing Co, Scotties Hut, Tambo, sold Santa-cross steers to 400c for 286kg to return $1144.

Michael Flynn, Valera Vale, Charleville, sold Droughtmaster steers to 392c for 384kg to return $1505.

Reynella Grazing Co, Reynella, Charleville, sold Droughtmaster-cross steers to 370c for 535kg to return $1980.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 385c/kg and averaged 328c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 394c/kg and averaged 362c/kg. Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 394c/kg and averaged 373c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 384c/kg and averaged 363c/kg.

B & N Bauer, Arlington, Augathella, sold Charbray-cross heifers to 390c for 310kg to return $1211.

Davidson Livestock, Cheshire, Tambo, sold Santa-cross heifers to 386c for 307kg to return $1186.

D, B, & F Nicholson, Beilboranga, Yuleba, sold Charolais heifers to 382c for 326kg to return $1247.

P & S Crocker, Craig Gowan, Roma, sold Simmental-cross heifers to 378c for 214kg to return $812.

J & J Walsh, Wilgalands, Roma, sold Hereford heifers to 376c for 255kg to return $961.

Cows over 500kg sold to 286c/kg and averaged 265c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 279c/kg and averaged 252c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 270c/kg and averaged 227c/kg.

Cows and calves sold to $1710/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 382c/kg and averaged 329c/kg.
