Roma Store 9 Apr 2013: Light steers to 208c

A total yarding of 9460 head of cattle was penned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday. It was a mixed quality yarding with cattle drawn from regions as far as Alice Springs in the Northern Territory.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 208c/kg and averaged 158c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 208c/kg and averaged 160c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 187c/kg and averaged 156c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 183c/kg and averaged 155c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 167c/kg and averaging 156c/kg.

Glen Valley Pastoral Co, Jundah, sold Santa steers to 208c/kg for 277kg to make $578/head.

The Peel family, Inverness, Blackall, sold Santa steers to 199c for 266kg to make $529.

Allan Pastoral Co, Oakvale, Mitchell, sold Charbray steers to 189c for 251kg to make $476.

Freshwater Partnership, Overflow, Mitchell, sold Droughtmaster steers to 187c for 288kg to return $540.

The Bain family, Mt Eden, Roma, sold Angus-cross steers to 178c for 342kg to return $610.

Kate Picking, Claventa, Cunnamulla, sold Charolais-cross steers to 174c for 212kg to make $369. She averaged 170c for the entire consignment of steers for 242kg to return $411.

The Sinnamon family, Charmana, Jackson, sold Santa steers to 172c for 321kg to return $554.

The Maller family, Rocky Hills, Homeward Pastoral Co, Injune, sold Santa steers to 172c for 320kg to make $552.

Dart Pastoral Co, Thirlstone, Roma, sold Charbray steers to 169c for 387kg to return $656. 

Weir & Black, Emu Park, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 169c for 379kg to make $641. They also sold Charolais-cross heifers to 152c for 352kg to make $535.

Perrett Cattle Co, Tunis, Injune, sold Droughtmaster steers to 162c and averaged 161c for 441kg to return $710.

The Lord family, Kilterry, Julia Creek, sold Santa heifers to 159c for 304kg to return $483.

Brown & Sons, Mayfield, Duchess, sold Droughtmaster steers to 151c for 453kg to make $685.

Pajingo Pastoral Co, Culloden, Muttaburra, sold Brahman steers to 130c for 408kg to return $530.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 152c/kg and averaged 136c/kg.

Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 159c/kg and averaged 137c/kg.

Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 159c/kg and averaged 140c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 173c/kg and averaged 138c/kg.

The West family, Roma, sold Hereford heifers to 152c for 315kg to return $479.

The Cameron family, Kilimia, Roma, sold Droughtmaster heifers to 150c for 284kg to make $426.

The Murray family, Moorelands, Roma, sold Angus heifers to 140c for 258kg to make $361.

Cows over 500kg hit 135c/kg and averaged 125c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at 137c/kg and averaged 113c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 133c/kg and averaged 100c/kg.

Cows and calves sold to $750/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 174c/kg and average 129c/kg.
