Numbers increased by 2496 head to 5557 head at the Maranoa Regional Council Drought Relief Special Roma Store Sale.

A mixed quality line up of cattle was penned and drawn from a wide supply area. A large panel of buyers was present and operating, with feeder operators in direct competition to export processors on the heavy end.

Light weight yearling steers to restockers experienced only quality related price changes, with strong demand for quality runs. Medium weight yearling steers to feed or restock improved in price and heavy weights over 400kg to feed averaged 11c/kg better.

Light weight yearling heifers sold 15c to 20c better, with medium weight heifers to feed increasing in price by 18c/kg. Light rain fell at the start of the female run and cows saw a marked improvement of 17c to 29c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers sold to 302.2c, with a large sample averaging 276c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed or restock made to 296.2c, with most priced in the high 280c/kg range. Heavy weights made to 284.2c to average 277c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers sold to 256.2c, with a large number making close to 240c/kg. Medium weight heifers to feed made to 250c, with most making around 244c/kg. Light weight cows to restockers averaged 158c, while the medium weights made to 184.2c to average 179c/kg. The medium weight 2 scores to processors averaged 187c and the best medium weight cow made to 229.2c/kg.

Good heavy cows averaged 240c, with sales to 253.2c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 258.2c/kg. Cows and calves sold to $960/unit.
