Weekly Roma Store cattle sale press report from Martin Bunyard:

A total of 1321 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Yarding numbers were less than usual due to wet weather and some road closures north and east of the local supply area. There was a number of restocker buyers present at the sale and those that had received useful rainfall were eager to secure some young, light cattle.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 200c/kg and averaged 164c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 202c/kg and averaged 189c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 199c/kg and averaged 170c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 190c/kg and averaged 163c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 173c/kg and averaging 165c/kg.

Quilberry Pastoral Co, Charleville, sold Charolais-cross steers to 202c for 231kg to make $467. They also sold Charolais-cross heifers to 162c for 294kg to return $476.

Kevin Bredhauer family, Rosevale, Wyandra, sold Charolais-cross steers to 199c for 260kg to return $519.

Fred Ahern, Murweh Station, Charleville, sold Santa steers to 195c for 257kg to make $501.

Cargara Cattle Co, Augathella, sold Braford steers to 173c for 471kg to return $817.

Chalmers & Camarca, McDonald Downs, Alice Springs, sold Santa-cross steers to 169c for 406kg to make $688.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 159c/kg and averaged 144c/kg.

Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 162c/kg and averaged 143c/kg.

Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 184c/kg and averaged 164c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 190c/kg and averaged 171c/kg.

Woodbine Livestock Trading, Woodbine, Blackall, sold Euro-cross heifers to 178c for 243kg to return $433.

Cows over 500kg hit 142c/kg and averaged 134c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at 137c/kg and averaged 130c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg N/A.

Cows and calves sold to $750/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 180c/kg and average 150c/kg.
