Yarding numbers returned to normal after the previous rain affected sale. More restocker buyers were in attendance and feedlot buyers showed keen interest in securing heavy weight yearling steers over 400kg. All categories of yearling heifers found more competition from feedlot, restocker and processor buyers. Medium and heavy weight 4 score cow prices jumped 12c to 17c/kg on average, as export processor competition continued to increase. Cows and calves reached $910/unit.

Light weight yearling steers topped at 217c and averaged 200c, up 5c, while plainer lines averaged 174c, up 18c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed reached 210c and averaged 202c, up 26c, while those returning to the paddock sold to 207c and averaged 193c, up 8c/kg. The D muscled lines averaged 167c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers sold to 209c and averaged 201c, up 10c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to feed made to 184c and averaged 179c, up 9c, while those to processors reached 186c and averaged 173c, up 17c/kg. Those to restocker buyers reached 190c and averaged 182c, up 14c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed earned to 187c and averaged 180c, up 14c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 184c and averaged 177c/kg. Medium weight 4 score cows hit 176c and averaged 163c, up 12c, while heavy weight 4 score cows increased 17c to 177c and averaged 172c/kg.

A total of 5911 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Store Sale.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 217c/kg and averaged 182c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 217c/kg and averaged 191c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 216c/kg and averaged 192c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 210c/kg and averaged 196c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 209c/kg and averaging 197c/kg.

Russell Mocker, Surprise, St George, sold Santa-cross steers to 216c/kg for 322kg to return $697/head. The Santa-cross heifers to 190c for 271kg to return $516.

H & J Maxwell, Hazelwood, Longreach, sold Droughtmaster-cross steers to 211c for 200kg to return $422. The Brangus-cross heifers sold to 180c for 182kg to return $328.

Pensini Grazing, Cameron Downs, Hughenden, sold Charolais steers to 210c for 355kg to return $747. The Charolais heifers sold to 190c for 203kg to return $386.

Jim Ford, Roma, sold Angus-cross steers to 209c for 475kg to return $995.

A Mawn & M Cosgrove, Warragul Springs, Roma, sold Charolais steers to 208c for 237kg to return $494. The Charolais heifers sold to 184c for 239kg to return $440.

W & M Allison, Springfield, Dulacca, sold Charolais-cross steers to 207c for 377kg to return $781.

Layershire, Koorandai, Roma, sold Angus-cross steers to 207c for 343kg to return $711. The Angus-cross heifers sold to 183c for 352kg to return $646.

Scroll Spur, Dillulla, Longreach, sold Charolais-cross steers to 207c for 321kg to return $665. The Santa heifers sold to 160c for 310kg to return $496.

G & M Rennick, Blairmack, Muckadilla, sold Charolais-cross steers to 206c for 372kg to return $767.

BKM Pastoral, Stratton, Roma, sold Angus-cross steers to 206c for 353kg to return $727.

Astaline, Ourdel, Windorah, sold Brahman steers to 206c for 286kg to return $591. The Santa-cross heifers sold to 178c for 343kg to return $612.

J & Y Freeman, Emohruo, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 206c for 256kg to return $528.

G & K Robinson, Kootchie Downs, Roma, sold Charbray steers to 204c for 306kg to return $625. The Charbray heifers sold to 181c for 276kg to return $501.

T & R Wichlacz, Woodbine, Muckadilla, sold Droughtmaster-cross steers to 202c for 277kg to return $560. The Droughtmaster-cross heifers sold to 186c for 235kg to return $438.

W Proud & D Brumpton, Scattering Plains, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 198c for 308kg to return $610.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 187c/kg and averaged 175c/kg.Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 185c/kg and averaged 170c/kg.Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 190c/kg and averaged 174c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 190c/kg and averaged 169c/kg.

Mary Neal, Gerogery, Barcaldine, sold Santa heifers to 185c for 288kg to return $533.

Supawick, Ascot Downs, Barcaldine, sold Charolais heifers sold to 182c for 418kg to return $762.

Cows over 500kg sold to 177c/kg and averaged 154c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 176c/kg and averaged 147c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 158c/kg and averaged 133c/kg.

Cows and calves sold to $910/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 195c/kg and average 152c/kg.
