Weekly Roma Store sale press report from Roma Combined Agents Association:

A total of 8796 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Prices improved for most classes of light weight steers after scattered rainfall across parts of the region motivated restocker buyers to make purchases.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 249c/kg and averaged 201c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 212c/kg and averaged 184c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 199c/kg and averaged 181c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 190c/kg and averaged 175c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 177c/kg and averaging 166c/kg.

Boothulla Pastoral Co, Cooladdi, sold Droughtmaster steers to 249c/kg for 167kg to make $417/head.

Tara Hills Pastoral, Yalli, Wyandra, sold Cross Bred steers to 218c for 165kg to return $360.

Ball & Co, Rothbury Park, Niela, sold Droughtmaster steers to 212c for 238kg to return $505.

The Miller family, Kooringa Downs, Roma, sold Droughtmaster-cross steers to 208c for 206kg to make $429.

The Mobbs family, Wallambank, Bollon, sold Simmental-cross steers to 202c for 248kg to make $503. They also sold Simmental-cross heifers to 172c for 236kg to return $407.

The Muller family, Kia Ora, Injune, sold Droughtmaster steers to 200c for 276kg to make $553. They also sold Charbray-cross heifers to 172c for 262kg to return $451.

Rosemary Ford, Hillcrest, Muckadilla, sold Santa-cross steers to 199c for 325kg to make $647.

The Mulcahy family, Stratton, Roma, sold Brangus-cross steers to 199c for 254kg to return $506.

The Twist family, Juandah Downs, Mungallala, sold Charolais steers to 197c for 310kg to return $612.

Bangor Cattle Co, Mungallala, sold Charolais-cross steers to 195c for 302kg to return $590.

Terrarara Grazing Co, Mitchell, sold Santa steers to 194c for 328kg to make $637. 

Hartnell & Connolly, Homebush, Mitchell, sold Santa-cross steers to 194c for 296kg to make $574. They also sold Santa-cross heifers to 167c for 373kg to make $624. 

Rob Cornish, Riverview, Mitchell, sold Charolais steers to 192c for 333kg to return $640. They also sold Charolais-cross heifers to 170c for 314kg to return $534.

Brett Conroy, Penrose, Roma, sold Santa-cross steers to 192c and averaged 186c for 339kg to return $614.

The Hutchinson family, White Oaks, Tambo, sold Santa-cross steers to 191c for 333kg to make $637.

Terry Jukes, Armadilla, Morven, sold Santa-cross steers to 191c for 285kg to make 546.

The Malone family, Braeside, Kynuna, sold Droughtmaster-cross steers to 178c for 379kg to make $676.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 176c/kg and averaged 151c/kg.

Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 177c/kg and averaged 158c/kg.

Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 174c/kg and averaged 160c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 180c/kg and averaged 164c/kg.

The Roberts family, Charlies Creek, Injune, sold Charbray-cross heifers to 174c for 335kg to make $584.

The Coggan family, Sherwood, Injune, sold Santa-cross heifers to 174c for 275kg to return $479.

The Cross family, Quandong, Dirranbandi, sold Angus-cross heifers to 170c for 352kg to make $599.

Lorraine Pastoral Co, Cloncurry, sold Brahman heifers to 170c for 236kg to return $402.

The Christensen family, Pinnacle, Roma, sold Angus-cross heifers to 162c for 360kg to return $583.

Cows over 500kg hit 151c/kg and averaged 141c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at 160c/kg and averaged 133c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 145c/kg and averaged 120c/kg.

Cows and calves sold to $860/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 176c/kg and average 140c/kg.
