Some extra competition, combined with a small improvement in quality and smaller numbers, resulted in light weight yearling steers to restockers or backgrounders averaging 11c to 26c/kg dearer. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed remained within a few cents either way of the previous sale. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers or backgrounders also experienced a lift in price, increasing 13c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed sold to a generally firm market.

Light weight, poor condition lines dominated the cow section and sold to market 10c to 12c/kg cheaper. However, good heavy cows to export slaughter eased over 20c/kg.
