Beef Central, 25/02/2015

Roma store sale NLRS weekly market commentary:

Yarding 6460 Change -2140

A reduced yarding of plainer cattle attracted a full panel of feedlot buyers, but not all were operating. Fewer numbers of restocker buyers were present and prices declined 8c to 10c/kg for light weight yearling steers. Most heavy weight yearling steers to feed were plainer quality than the previous sale and prices declined 16c/kg on average. Light and medium weight yearling heifers dropped in price as restocker competition declined and only one southern processor buyer was operating on light weight heifers. Cows were 10c to 13c cheaper across all export classes with only one major Queensland processor operating. Cows and calves sold to $1100/unit and averaged $785.

Light weight yearling steers sold to 284c and averaged 245c, down 10c, while slightly heavier lines made to 276c and averaged 244c, down 8c/kg. Plainer consignments sold to 205c and averaged between 177c and 190c/kg.
