Roma Store Sale weekly NLRS commentary:

Yarding 4850, Change 150

It was a fair to good quality yarding of cattle with similar numbers penned to the previous store sale. Good local restocker buyer attendance continued, while Queensland feedlot buyer competition lifted again this week. Light weight yearling steers jumped 7c, while heavy feeder weight yearling steers added 6c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers returned evenly to both the paddock and feedlots. Light weight yearling heifers found plenty of demand from southern processors, feedlot and restocker buyers.

Good quality medium and heavy weight cows sold over 160c/KG, while cows and calves reached $755/unit.

Light weight yearling steers sold to 223c and averaged 202c, up 7c, while D muscled lines averaged 166c, down 7c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to 198c and averaged 192c, up 5c, while those to restocker buyers topped at 207c and averaged 199c, up 5c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed hit 196c and averaged 187c, up 6c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to feedlot buyers reached 182c and averaged 163c, up 5c, while those sold to southern processors hit 167c and averaged 165c, up 11c/kg. Those returning to the paddock made to 182c and averaged 162c, down 8c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed sold to 175c and averaged 166c, down 9c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed topped at 180c/kg.

Grown heifers to feed sold to 139c and averaged 136c, while those with good cover sold to 156c/kg. Good medium weight 4 score cows earned to 166c and averaged 153c, while heavy weight 4 score cows reached 165c and averaged 158c/kg.

Roma heavy feeder steers hit 196c/kg

A total of 4850 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 223c/kg and averaged 183c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 218c/kg and averaged 196c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 212c/kg and averaged 191c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 222c/kg and averaged 192c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 196c/kg and averaging 186c/kg.

Wade Pastoral Co, Koonawallah, Quilpie, sold Charolais-cross steers to 223c/kg for 183kg to return $408/head.

A & R Richardson, Nimity, Roma, sold Angus-cross steers to 222c for 373kg to return $830.

D Jones & K Sharp, Wardilla, Charleville, sold Santa-cross steers to 212c for 327kg to return $694.

Bruce Smith, Coleraine, Mitchell, sold Santa-cross steers to 207c for 335kg to return $696.

Scott Keating, Mitchell, sold Angus-cross steers to 206c for 292kg to return $603. The Angus-cross heifers to 166c for 299kg to return $497.

Garry Lee, Scotsburn, Mitchell, sold Limousin-cross steers to 206c for 265kg to return $546. The Limousin-cross heifers sold to 160c for 255kg to return $408.

Allan Tite, Meadowbank, Roma, sold Shorthorn-cross steers to 203c for 292kg to return $595. The Shorthorn-cross heifers to 156c for 261kg to return $408.

A & C Adams, Rostrevor, Blackall, sold Murray Grey-cross steers to 200c for 324kg to return $648. The Murray Grey-cross heifers to 182c for 279kg to return $508.

P & S Joliffe, Walhallow, Amby, sold Santa steers to 196c for 416kg to return $817.

H Macintosh, Fairfield, Longreach, sold Santa-cross steers to 196c for 407kg to return $799.

Aus-Zea, Boxvale, Injune, sold Angus-cross steers to 194c for 390kg to return $757.

The Proud family, Rutland North, Mitchell, sold Brahman-cross steers to 188c for 406kg to return $764.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 180c/kg and averaged 154c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 180c/kg and averaged 159c/kg. Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 182c/kg and averaged 159c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 168c/kg and averaged 153c/kg.

Bungoona Pastoral Co, Bungoona, Longreach, sold Charolais heifers to 179c for 317kg to return $569.

Currawilla Pastoral Co, Currawilla, Windorah, sold Droughtmaster-cross heifers to 174c for 317kg to return $553.

Brad Howe, Aberdean, Yuleba, sold Santa heifers to 161c for 444kg to return $716.

Perrett Cattle Co, Tunis, Injune, sold Brahman-cross heifers to 168c for 400kg toreturn $672.

Rockwell & Blue Lakes Pastoral, Rockwell, Cunnamulla, sold Santa-cross heifers to 140c for 349kg to return $489.

Cows over 500kg sold to 165c/kg and averaged 151c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at 166c/kg and averaged 138c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 155c/kg and averaged 124c/kg.

Rockwell & Blue Lakes Pastoral, Rockwell, Cunnamulla, sold Charolais-cross cows to 154c for 474kg to return $731.

Cows and calves sold to $755/unit.

B & T Gadsby, Moorooka, Morven, sold Santa-cross cows and calves to $755.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 180c/kg and average 163c/kg.
