Yarding 11800 Change 2954

Numbers jumped 25% with large consignments of young, light weight steers and heifers dominating the yarding. The enthusiastic buying panel easily absorbed the extra supply of store cattle and prices increased 9c to 34c/kg for all categories of yearling steers. Good quality light and medium weight heifers attracted strong competition from restocker and feedlot buyers. Medium and heavy weight grown steers continued to experience solid feedlot buyer competition. Export processes were keen to secure suitable cows with prices lifting 5c to 34c/kg.

Calves sold to 290c and averaged between 239c and 275c/kg. Light weight yearling steers earned to 348c and averaged between 263c and 318c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed topped at 304c and averaged 282c, up 9c, while those to restockers made to 318c and averaged 297c, up 10c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed topped at 304c and averaged 283c, up 10c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returned to the paddock at 290c and averaged between 250c and 265c, while those to feedlot buyers reached 292c and averaged between 231c and 253c/kg. Those to processors hit 258c and averaged between 242c and 245c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 292c and averaged 248c/kg.

Grown steers sold to 268c and averaged 262c/kg. The store cows sold to 206c and averaged 200c, up 34c, while medium weight 3 score cows hit 228c and averaged 211c, up 5c/kg. Heavy weight 4 score cows earned to 257c and averaged 244c, up 13c/kg. Cows and calves sold to $1,400/unit.

Roma steers hit 348c/kg

 

A total of 11,800 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale with $8.69 million going under the auctioneers sale hammer.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 348c/kg and averaged 304c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 324c/kg and averaged 289c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 320c/kg and averaged 282c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 318c/kg and averaged 282c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 304c/kg and averaging 278c/kg.

ED Cattle Company, Redcliffe Station, Hughenden, sold Angus-cross steers to 326c/kg for 179kg to return $586/head.

Keith & Maree Chandler, Glentulloch Grazing Co, Glentulloch, Injune, sold Santa-cross steers to 320c for 326kg to return $1045. The Santa heifers sold to 292c for 320kg to return $936.

B & C Anderson, Alice River, Jericho, sold Angus-cross steers to 320c for 196kg to return $629.

E & C Rolfe, Nindinna, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 316c for 303kg to return $960.

M & M Bright, Karoola Park, Roma, sold Angus-cross steers to 311c for 302kg to return $939. The Angus-cross heifers sold to 276c for 308kg to return $851.

Sutton Beef, Sunnybank, Surat, sold Santa-cross steers to 310c for 256kg to return $796.

Barry J McCabe, Myall Hill, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 304c for 406kg to return $1237.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 294c/kg and averaged 251c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 292c/kg and averaged 255c/kg. Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 286c/kg and averaged 246c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 280c/kg and averaged 242c/kg.

P & C Britton, Brighton Downs, Winton, sold Santa-cross heifers to 280c for 187kg to return $525.

B & N Bauer, Arlington, Augathella, sold Charolais-cross heifers to 278c for 312kg to return $870.

Maranoa Downs Grazing Co, Maranoa Downs, Mitchell, sold Charolais-cross heifers to 260c for 287kg to return $748.

Killarney Park Grazing, Killarney Park, Tambo, sold Santa heifers to 253c for 440kg to return $1114.

Cows over 500kg sold to 250c/kg and averaged 241c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 240c/kg and averaged 211c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 237c/kg and averaged 195c/kg.

Cows and calves sold to $1420/unit and averaged $1143/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 322c/kg and average 248c/kg.
