Yarding 2213 Change -2248

Cattle numbers fell after recent patchy rainfall over the supply area, down by 2248 head to 2213 head at the Roma Store Sale.

Cattle were drawn from the usual supply area and a good panel of buyers was present and saw increased restocker competition for heifers.

Steers dominated the yarding and the overall quality was mixed. Prices rose markedly across most categories. Lightweight yearling steers under 280kg to restockers rose by 20c/kg. Lightweight yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers rose by 17c to 24c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows rose by 38c, while medium weight 3 score cows rose by 46c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows rose by 54c/kg.

Lightweight yearling steers under 280kg to restockers sold to 276.2c to average 259c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers sold to 280.2c to average 263c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 400kg to feed made to 266.2c to average 260c/kg. Lightweight yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers sold to 210.2c to average 201c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 400kg to feed sold to 234.2c to average 226c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows sold to 196.2c to average 151c while the medium weight 3 score cows made to a top of 200.2c to average 188c/kg.

Heavy weight 3 score cows made to 211.2c to average 202c/kg.

Weaner steers under 220kg topped at 260c/kg and averaged 240c/kg, weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 256c/kg and averaged 231c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 261c/kg and averaged 232c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 263c/kg and averaged 249c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 263c/kg and averaging 234c/kg.
