Weekly Roma Store Cattle Sale press report

A total of 10,400 cattle were penned at Roma’s store sale on Tuesday.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 192c/kg and averaged 164c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 190c/kg and averaged 164c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 189c/kg and averaged 164c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 177c/kg and averaged 157c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 173c/kg and averaging 158c/kg.

Warbreccan Pastoral Co, Stonehenge, sold Santa steers to 192c/kg for 134kg to return $259/head.

Bracco Cattle Co, Amaroo, Roma, sold Angus steers to 188c for 288kg to make $543. They also sold Hereford heifers to 161c for 291kg to return $469.

The McFadzen family, Farmleigh, Mitchell, sold Charolais steers to 186c for 310kg to return $578. They also sold Brangus heifers to 162c for 272kg to make $441.

The Jones family, Evergreen, Injune, sold Charolais-cross steers to 186c for 280kg to return $521. They also sold Charolais-cross heifers to 158c for 406kg to make $406.

The Phillips family, Currawong, Mitchell, sold Charolais-cross steers to 184c for 318kg to return $586. They also sold Charolais-cross heifers to 164c for 287kg to make $472.

Col Thompson, Homelea, Wallumbilla, sold Charolais-cross steers to 184c for 224kg to return $413.

Freshwater Partnership, Overflow, Mitchell, sold Charolais-cross steers to 178c for 272kg to return $485.

The Roberts family, Ridgelands, Injune, sold Charolais steers to 177c for 380kg to make $673.

John Bodkin, Kamaruka, Mitchell, sold Santa-cross steers to 175c for 363kg to return $637.

Dalwai Holdings, Gracemere, Mitchell, sold Droughtmaster-cross steers to 173c for 414kg to return $717.

Colin Blacklock, Haddington, Julia Creek, sold Brahman-cross steers to 172c for 260kg to make $449. 

The Joliffe family, Walhallow, Amby, sold Santa steers to 171c for 431kg to return $739.

J Cormack, Corfield Park, Roma, sold Simbrah steers to 168c for 448kg to make $754.

The Curran family, Talleyrand, Longreach, sold Charolais-cross steers to 167c for 222kg to return $371. They also sold Brahman-cross heifers to 147c for 217kg to make $320.

Fred Ahern, Charleville, sold Charbray-cross steers to 166c for 247kg to return $410.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 166/kg and averaged 137c/kg.

Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 164c/kg and averaged 141c/kg.

Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 164c/kg and averaged 142c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 154c/kg and averaged 137c/kg.

BLS Grazing, North-Pentwyn, Blackall, sold Charolais heifers to 164c for 245kg to return $403.

John Crook-King, Pendine Station, Barcaldine, sold Santa-cross heifers to 153c for 351kg to make $537.

The Pether family, Auteuil Station, Barcaldine, sold Brahman heifers to 152c for 252kg to make $383.

The Redgen family, The Rockies, Roma, sold Santa-cross heifers to 151c for 267kg to return $403.

A line of PTIC Angus heifers from central Queensland sold to $400/head and averaged $378/head.

Cows over 500kg hit 129c/kg and averaged 111c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at 122c/kg and averaged 103c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 119c/kg and averaged 96c/kg.

Cows and calves sold to $600/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 169c/kg and average 123c/kg.
