Yarding 4575 Change -951

The supply of store cattle remained below average. The quality of cattle penned was mixed, with restocker and feedlot buyer demand staying solid. Very light weight steers hit 396c, while very light weight heifer calves reached 374c/kg. All steers suitable for feed improved 3c to 8c on average. Droughtmaster cows with 1 to 4 month old calves topped at $1825/unit. Steer calves sold to 396c and averaged 378c, up 22c, while heifer calves made to 374c and averaged 345c, up 21c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers earned to 377c and averaged between 336c and 357c for good quality sorts. Medium weight yearling steers to feed topped at 340c and averaged 328c, up 3c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed reached 338c and averaged 326c, up 8c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers sold to 358c and mostly made between 311c and 339c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers made to 329c and averaged 317c to feed onto the supermarket trade. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed earned to 310c and averaged 305c/kg. Medium weight grown steers to feed reached 309c and mostly made between 306c and 308c/kg. Grown heifers to feed sold to 274c/kg. The 2 score cows to restockers sold between 194c and 218c/kg. The medium weight 3 score cows hit 256c and averaged 240c/kg. Cows and calves averaged $1408/unit.

Roma light steers hit 396c/kg

A total of 4575 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 396c/kg and averaged 364c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 377c/kg and averaged 350c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 358c/kg and averaged 334c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 340c/kg and averaged 321c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 336c/kg and averaging 320c/kg.

B & N Bauer, Arlington, Augathella, sold Charolais-cross steers to 378c/kg for 168kg to return $636/head. The Simmental-cross heifers sold to 350c for 187kg to return $656.

S & M Power, Ungabilla, Glenmorgan, sold Droughtmaster-cross steers to 377c for 260kg to return $980. The Charolais-cross heifers to 330c for 288kg to return $953.

S Kidman & Co, Durham Downs, Eromanga, sold Santa steers to 368kg to return $981. The Santa heifers sold to 358c for 213kg to return $764.

Lex Mesner, Teelba Station, Glenmorgan, sold Droughtmaster-cross steers to 368c for 227kg to return $837. The Droughtmaster-cross heifers to 320c for 221kg to return $709.

E & C Rolfe, Nindinna, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 362c for 277kg to return $1006. The Charolais-cross heifers sold to 326c for 333kg to return $1089.

M & L Huntly, Kilburnie, Muckadilla, sold Charolais-cross steers to 358c for 320kg to return $1146.

Killarney Park Grazing, Killarney Park, Tambo, sold Santa steers to 340c for 364kg to return $1240.

S & R White Family Trust, Tarrebar, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 338c for 394kg to return $1334. The Charolais-cross heifers sold to 326c for 331kg to return $1080.

J & M Collinson, West Myall, Roma, sold Simmental-cross steers to 336c for 353kg to return $1187.

Washbrook Partnership, Wadeholme, Charleville, sold Red Brangus steers to 335c for 236kg to return $791. The Red Brangus heifers sold to 304c for 295kg to return $899.

D & C McInnerney, Combarngo, Yuleba, sold Angus-cross steers to 331c for 446kg to return $1478.

Glen Arden Cattle Co, Glen Arden, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 330c for 417kg to return $1377. The Droughtmaster heifers sold to 312c for 372kg to return $1162.

C & P McGuigan, Nerieda, Glenmorgan, sold Santa-cross steers to 330c for 330kg to return $1089. The Santa-cross heifers sold to 329c for 330kg to return $1086.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 322c/kg and averaged 289c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 330c/kg and averaged 309c/kg. Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 346c/kg and averaged 311c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 374c/kg and averaged 330c/kg.

Blenheim, Glenmorgan, sold Santa-cross heifers to 330c for 289kg to return $956.

Yackatoon Grazing Co, La Grantha, Wandoan, sold Droughtmaster-cross heifers to 323c for 315kg to return $1020.

Murphy Grazing Trust, Mossvale, Yuleba, sold Charolais-cross heifers to 320c for 333kg to return $1067.

Ross West, Roleen, Wallumbilla, sold Hereford-cross heifers to 314c for 390kg to return $1227.

Cows over 500kg sold to 267c/kg and averaged 255c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 263c/kg and averaged 241c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 220c/kg and averaged 185c/kg.

A pen of Droughtmaster cows with 1 to 4-month-old calves sold to $1825, while most averaged $1408/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 370c/kg and averaged 290c/kg.
