Roma Store Sale NLRS comment:

Yarding 4700, Change -900

Total cattle yarding numbers declined, while demand from feedlot and restocker buyers continued to increase after the recent rainfall across parts of southern Queensland. Light weight yearling steers were snapped up by local restockers and hit 219c/kg.
More restocker and feedlot buyer competition for medium and heavy weight steers helped maintain the recent surge in price averages. Light and medium weight yearling heifers jumped 10c to 24c/kg in price. Good heavy cows surged to 173c/kg and gained up to 22c/kg. Cows and calves sold to $800/ unit.

Good calves hit 226c/kg, while light weight yearling steers topped at 219c and averaged 195c, up 6c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed reached 196c and averaged 187c, up 7c/kg, while those going back to the paddock hit 205c and averaged 194c, up 4c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers found more restocker buyer interest with those sorts reaching 194c and averaging 186c, down 6c/kg, while those to feed earned to 195c and averaged 182c, down 7c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers to feedlots made to 164c and averaged 158c, up 12c/kg, while those to southern processors topped at 160c and averaged 154c, up 10c/kg. Those to restockers hit 188c and averaged 170c, up 21c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers reached 176c, up 24c/kg. Good heavy 4 score cows sold to 173c and averaged 163c, up 22c/kg.

 

Weekly Roma Store Sale press report:

A total of 4700 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 226c/kg and averaged 186c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 219c/kg and averaged 191c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 215c/kg and averaged 191c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 210c/kg and averaged 190c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 195c/kg and averaging 185c/kg.

Christensen Rural, Pinnacle, Roma, sold Angus-cross EU steers to 219c/kg for 260kg to return $569/head. The Angus-cross EU heifers reached 166c for 278kg to return $462.

W & P Anderson, Juandah, Mungalala, sold Charolais-cross steers to 214c for 168kg to return $361. They also sold a Charolais-cross heifers to 214c for 150kg to return $321.

J & C McLoughlin, Leeora Downs, Injune, sold Cross bred steers to 210c for 362kg to return $760.

S & D Bowden, Penlan Downs, Longreach, sold Cross bred steers to 206c for 376kg to return $776.

Ben Avery, Chippendale, Blackall, sold Droughtmaster-cross steers to 205c for 342kg to return $701.

M Chalmers & Camarca, McDonald Downs, Alice Springs, sold Santa steers to 204c for 307kg to return $627. 

Barragunda Pastoral, Strathavon Station, Blackall, sold Angus-cross steers to 201c for 251kg to return $506.

C & C Coomber, Jireh Park, Roma, sold Angus-cross steers to 200c for 325kg to return $651. 

R & S Pether, Roseneath Station, Longreach, sold Angus-cross steers to 200c for 284kg to return $570.

P & S Joliffe, Walhallow, Amby, sold Santa-cross steers to 194c for 438kg to return $850.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 182c/kg and averaged 164c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 188c/kg and averaged 157c/kg. Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 172c/kg and averaged 154c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 160c/kg and averaged 148c/kg.

L & H McKay, Macwood, St George, sold Santa-cross heifers to 188c for 344kg to return $647.

JS Grazing, Double J, Injune, sold Angus heifers to 176c for 373kg to return $657.

E & J Atkinson, Lisburne, Blackall, sold Droughtmaster steers to 154c for 307kg to return $474. 

Paraway Pastoral Co, Malvern Hills, Blackall, sold Brahman-cross PTIC heifers to 150c for 425kg to return $637.

Cows over 500kg sold to 173c/kg and averaged 162c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at 171c/kg and averaged 145c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 127c/kg and averaged 99c/kg.

B & V Jackson, Retreat, Injune, sold Droughtmaster-cross cows to 171c for 520kg to return $890.

Cows and calves sold to $800/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 190c/kg and average 144c/kg.
