Roma Store 14 May 2013: EU steers to 188c

Weekly Roma Store Cattle sale press report supplied by the Roma Saleyards:

A total of 8100 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 190c/kg and averaged 151c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 176c/kg and averaged 150c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 188c/kg and averaged 147c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 163c/kg and averaged 137c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 159c/kg and averaging 137c/kg.

Maller Pastoral Co, Seven Trees, Wallumbilla, sold EU Charolais-cross steers to 188c/kg for 323kg to make $609/head. They also sold EU Charolais-cross heifers to 148c for 308kg to return $457.

Cameron Hudson, Maranoa Downs, Mitchell, sold Santa-cross steers for 188c for 177c to return $334.

The Huntly family, Kilburnie, Muckadilla, sold EU Charolais steers to 176c for 278kg to make $490.

Duthie Park Grazing Co, Blackall, sold Angus-cross steers to 176c and averaged 164c for 278kg to make $455.

The Muller family, Kia Ora, Injune, sold Charolais steers to 175c for 295kg to make $517.

The Russell family, Hopes Creek Paddock, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 173c for 316kg to return $548.

Jimmy Ford, Roma, sold Angus-cross steers to 172c for 290kg to make $500. He also sold Angus-cross heifers to 140c for 270kg to return $379.

Gwenbrook Farms Pastoral Co, Roma, sold Charolais steers to 170c for 265kg to return $452. They also sold Charolais-cross heifers to 156c for 264kg to make $412. 

The Russell family, Wodonga, Mungalalla, sold Charolais-cross steers to 168c for 342kg to return $575. They also sold Charolais heifers to 150c for 321kg to make $482.

The Noon family, Mitchell, sold Angus-cross steers to 166c for 244kg to make $406.

Glengraco Grazing Co, Glenray, Yuleba, sold Santa-cross steers to 164c for 331kg to return $543.

The Creevey family, Lucknow, Augathella, sold Charolais steers to 160c for 355kg to return $569. They also sold Charolais-cross heifers to 142c for 297kg to make $423. 

The Cloherty family, Reben Downs, Injune, sold Santa steers to 159c for 414kg to make $659.

The Milton family, Wakefield, Isisford, sold Simmental-cross steers to 153c for 411kg to return $630.

John Crook-King, Pendine Station, Barcaldine, sold Santa-cross steers to 148c for 365kg to make $541.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 156c/kg and averaged 119c/kg.

Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 156c/kg and averaged 123c/kg.

Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 156c/kg and averaged 131c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 148c/kg and averaged 129c/kg.

Lyndale Grazing Co, Roma, sold Simbrah heifers to 156c for 390kg to return $609.

Woonoona Pastoral Co, Roma, sold Angus-cross heifers to 154c for 299kg to return $461.

The Rolfe family, Nindinna, Roma, sold Charolais-cross heifers to 154c for 270kg to make $416.

The Freeman family, Emohruo, Roma, sold Charolais-cross heifers to 148c for 308kg to return $457.

Jeff Holzwart, St George, sold Charolais-cross heifers to 148c for 258kg to return $383.

Cows over 500kg hit 106c/kg and averaged 93c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at 96c/kg and averaged 75c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 105c/kg and averaged 56c/kg.

Cows and calves sold to $570/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 160c/kg and average 116c/kg.
