Roma Store sale NLRS commentary:
A mix of good quality and drought affected cattle were penned. More restocker buyers were present at the sale and all the usual feedlot buyers were operating. Light weight steers increased in price, while good heavy weight yearling steers to feed lifted 4c/kg on average. The good quality lines of yearling heifers sold well, but plainer sorts attracted less buyer interest. Heavy weight 4 score cows remained firm on the previous sale prices, while plainer sorts were cheaper on average. Cows and calves sold to $1210/unit and averaged $775.
Light weight yearling steers sold to 279c and averaged 247c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers topped at 267c and averaged 237c, up 12c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed reached 267c and averaged 247c, up 4c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to processors made to 220c and averaged 205c, while good quality sorts returning to the paddock hit 230c and averaged 217c/kg.
