Roma store 11 July 2017: Quality weaners draw out restockers

Yarding 8388 Change 1865

There was a majority yarding of weaners where 8,388 head were sold at Roma store Sale today, up 1,865 head on last week. All buyers were present with additional restockers active in a market attracted by the class of the weaners consisting of large runs of exceptional quality and superior lines.

Calves under 200kg made to 394c, light weight steers in the 200-280kg range made to a top of 396.2c/kg to return to the paddock. Steers going to backgrounders prior to feed, in the 280-330kg range, made to a top of 390.2c to average 352c/kg. Feedlot entry weight steers in the 330-400kg range made to a top of 376.2c to average 341c/kg.

4-6 tooth Bullocks to processors made to a top of 284.2c and light bulls to restockers made to 342.2c to average 323c/kg. Heifers in the 200-280kg range made to a top of 390.2c to average 316c/kg. Heifers to feed topped at 316.2c to average 308c/kg.

Weaner steers under 220kg topped at 394c/kg and averaged 359c/kg, weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 396c/kg and averaged 357c/kg. Steers in the 280- 350kg range reached 396c/kg and averaged 352/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 376c/kg and averaged 337c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 330c/kg and averaging 304c/kg.

Cows and calves hit $920/unit.

Cows in the 300-400kg range reached 215c/kg and averaged 193c/kg, while cows in the 400kg-500kg range reached 229c/kg and averaged 204c/kg. Cows over 500kg topped at 229/kg, averaging 218c/kg.

Bulls under 400kg reached 368c/kg and averaged 308c/kg.
