Yarding 10,422 Change 4480

The yards were buzzing as buyers anticipated the possible purchase opportunity with the huge yarding of 10,422 head at the Roma Store sale, the final sale prior to Easter.

All the usual buyers were present and operating. Quality was generally average, with the effects of the dry prior to the rain shown, as multiple light calves were presented to give breeders a clear start for winter.

Calves made to 462.2c to average 454c/kg. Yearling steers over 280kg made to 430.2c, to average 358c/kg. Steers to the restockers in the 350kg to 400kg range made to 368.2c, to average 337c/kg.

Grown Steers made to a top of 339c, to average 330c/kg. Bulls under 400kg made to 442c, to average 333c/kg. Good runs of well covered cows to slaughter made 263c, to average 245c/kg.

A total of 10,422 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Weaner steers under 220kg topped at 464c/kg and averaged 404/kg, weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 440c/kg and averaged 381c/kg. Steers in the 280- 350kg range reached 430c/kg and averaged 353c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 368c/kg and averaged 332c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 349c/kg and averaging 330c/kg.
