Roma store 1 Dec 2015: Good numbers still coming forward

Yarding 6784 Change -616

Good numbers of store cattle continued to be penned. A fair panel of restocker and feedlot buyers were operating and very light weight yearling steers hit 386c/kg. The quality of heavy weight yearling steers was mixed with majority going to feed at up to 335c/kg. Solid demand from feedlot and processor buyers out weighted the supply of light and medium weight heifers. Medium weight cows continued to attract spirited bidding from export processor buyers. Light weight yearling steers sold to 386c and averaged 359c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers made to 348c and averaged 331c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed topped at 335c and averaged 328c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers earned to 340c and averaged between 300c and 331c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 334c and averaged 321c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed sold to 324c and averaged 313c/kg. Medium weight grown steers sold to 320c and averaged 308c/kg. Medium weight 3 score cows reached 233c and averaged 219c/kg. Heavy weight 4 score cows topped at 258c/kg. Santa-cross cows with three month old calves sold to $1,380 and most averaged $1,041/unit.

Roma light steers hit 386c/kg

 A total of 6784 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 386c/kg and averaged 356c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 384c/kg and averaged 352c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 370c/kg and averaged 337c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 344c/kg and averaged 321c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 335c/kg and averaging 318c/kg.

John & Lyn Hudson, Maranoa Downs, Mitchell, sold Droughtmaster-cross steers to 384c/kg for 228kg to return $877/head. The Droughtmaster heifers sold to 332c for 220kg to return $733.

Moorlands, Blackall, sold Santa steers to 380c for 214kg to return $813.

J & J Creevey, Lucknow, Augathella, sold Charbray steers to 378c for 216kg to return $817.

Wellwater Pastoral Co, Yarraben, Goondiwindi, sold Santa-cross steers to 375c for 276kg to return $1035.

Bass Cattle Co, Muldoon, Mungallala, sold Santa heifers to 336c for 302kg to return $1016.

A & S Smith, Openbah, St George, sold Simmental-cross heifers to 334c for 316kg to return $1056.

Cargara Cattle Co, Cargara, Augathella, sold Braford heifers to 328c for 312kg to return $1026.

Tamarang Pastoral Co, Tamarang, Wallumbilla, sold Charolais-cross heifers to 326c for 336kg to return $1097.

Cows over 500kg sold to 278c/kg and averaged 253c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 257c/kg and averaged 226c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 240c/kg and averaged 197c/kg.

Santa-cross cows with three-month-old calves sold to $1,380 and most averaged $1,041/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 350c/kg and averaged 301c/kg.
