Roma medium steers to 188c/kg

Weekly Roma Store Cattle Sale press report from Martin Bunyard:

A total of 4539 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 176c/kg and averaging 163c/kg, while steers in the 350-400kg range reached 185c/kg and averaged 167c/kg and steers in the 280-350kg range reached 188c/kg and averaged 171c/kg.

Weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 195c/kg and averaged 175c/kg, while weaners under 220kg topped at 192c/kg and averaged 173c/kg.

The Rolfe family, Nindinna, Roma, sold Charolais steers to 193c for 267kg to return $516.

The Chandler family, Cobbadah, Injune, sold Cross bred steers to 192c for 221kg to make $426.

Peter and Wendy Taylor, Koorandai, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 190c and averaged 176c for 296kg to return $520. They also sold Charolais-cross heifers to 158c for 273kg to make $432.

The Huntly family, Kilburnie, Muckadilla, sold Charolais steers to 187c for 329kg to return $615. They also sold Charolais-cross heifers to 170c for 290kg to make $494.

Clint Melcer, Myo, Injune, sold Charolais steers to 186c for 300kg to return $560.

Whitton Cattle Co, Myrtleville, Injune, sold Charolais steers to 185c for 391kg to make $725. They also sold Brahman-cross cows to 146c for 567kg to return $829. They also sold Brahman-cross cows and cavles to $730/unit.

The Proud family, Woodstock, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 182c for 266kg to make $485. They also sold Droughtmaster heifers to 172c for 228kg to return $393.

The Campbell family, Leeson, Winton, sold Charolais-cross steers to 180c for 322kg to make $580.

Hilton Connolly, Derry Downs, Roma, sold Santa steers to 173c for 430kg to return $744.

The Ferguson family, Annie Vale, Roma, sold Santa-cross steers to 170c for 530kg to make $903.

Doug Cameron, Nive Downs, Charleville, sold an Angus-cross steer for 166c weighting 900kg to make $1495.

The Hauff & Sons, Colart, Blackall, sold Hereford steers to 166c for 432kg to make $719.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 165c/kg and averaged 146c/kg.

Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 170c/kg and averaged 151c/kg.

Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 172c/kg and averaged 154c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 220c/kg and averaged 153c/kg.

S Kidman & Co, Morney Plains, Windorah, sold Santa heifers to 170c for 257kg to return $437. 

The Ferris family, Rockton, Surat, sold Charolais-cross heifers to 169c for 328kg to make $556.

The Pampling family, Derbyshire Downs, Augathella, sold Brahman-cross heifers to 166c and averaged 159c for 397kg to return $632.

The Taylor family, Marjundale, Injune, sold Charolais-cross heifers to 161c for 309kg to return $498. 

Cows over 500kg hit 149c/kg and averaged 136c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at 146c/kg and averaged 119c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg range made 137c/kg and averaged 98c/kg.

Cows and calves sold to $730/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 190c/kg and average 141c/kg.
