Online listings decline 26pc, as clearance falls to 53pc and prices ease further

Beef Central, 01/07/2023

These two even lines of 72 Brangus and Ultrablack PTIC heifers 19-22 months averaging 411kg from Morven, Southern Queensland, averaged $1205/head on Friday.

AuctionsPlus commercial cattle listings slipped 26 percent to 7284 head last week, while clearance fell to 53pc.

Prices for young steers and heifers were lower across the board as substantial rain in southern Australia caused further holding of livestock on farm, doing little to improve restocking demand.

With a subdued market, the attention of many vendors has instead turned to calving and the upcoming spring bull sales.

From Morven, Southern Queensland, two even lines of 72 Brangus and Ultrablack PTIC heifers 19-22 months averaging 411kg averaged $1205/head.

PTIC cows registered a smaller offering with 197 head, with prices increasing on last week to average $1499/head – up $272 for a 60pc clearance. From Barraba, NSW, 25 Angus cows three years averaging 561kg returned $1600/head and will travel to a buyer near Wandoan, Queensland.
