NVLX Wodonga 17 Jan 2023: Market gains traction after correction

Numbers were similar and quality was improved. The market found some traction after last week’s big price correction.

The usual buying group along with a new southern buyer were in attendance. The bigger supply of vealers sold to solid demand, with prices at the top end firm.

The pick of the vealers made from 370 to 464c/kg.

Yearling trade steers were few and buying competition was stronger. The bulk selling at 330c to 440c/kg. The heifer portion gained 11c making from 320c to 389c/kg. Secondary steers suitable to feed, sold to a small group of buyers making from 380c to 418c/kg.

In the export sale all processors operated, with more enthusiasm this week. Heavy steers and bullocks were unchanged to slightly dearer. Heavy bullocks making from 340c to 383c/kg.

The cow market suffered a further price reduction of 16c to 21c/kg. The better finished heavy types making from 295c to 328c/kg.

Heavy bulls sold at 280c to 310c/kg.
