MLA’s 2015-16 eastern states saleyard survey results released

The results of MLA’s annual saleyard survey for 2015-16 have been released for NSW, Queensland and Victoria, with results for SA and WA soon to follow.

In NSW, the three largest cattle selling centres for 2015-16 remained the same as the previous year. Dubbo was the largest in the state, with consignments totalling 236,651 head for the year-to-June, while Wagga was second, yarding 187,105 head of cattle. CTLX Carcoar was third with a total throughput of 146,667 head. Tamworth moved from sixth position to fourth, while Casino, Gunnedah, Forbes, Moss Vale, Inverell and Scone rounded out the top ten.

Queensland cattle yardings saw:

Roma come in as the largest with 335,667 head sold and 34,128 head spelled
Cloncurry total 312,557 head of transit cattle, the second largest in the state
Dalby consignments total 231,764 head, to be the third largest
The remainder of the top ten consisted of Gracemere, Emerald, Dalrymple, Blackall, Clermont, Warwick and Toowoomba.

Victorian selling centres remained similar to last year with NVLX Wodonga, Leongatha and Pakenham the top three – yarding 215,308 head, 148,965 head and 122,097 head, respectively. Warrnambool, Bairnsdale, Ballarat, Camperdown, Colac, Hamilton and Yea were the next seven largest saleyards for 2015-16.

    Preferred it more when the reports broke the “total sold” into prime/store & transit.
