Gunnedah penned 4000 good quality cattle a rise of 700 head. The regular buyers attended and operated with extra competition from a southern feeder and cow operator. Dearer trends prevailed mostly for the feeder categories while some backgrounders were cheaper.
Weaner steers under 200kgs to background 460c to 535c/kg the heifer portion 390c to 435c/kg. Medium restockers slipped considerably 385c to 510c/kg with a quality correction. The feeder drafts gained 4c/kg 425c to 560c/kg. Feeders to 480kgs slightly dearer 424c to 544c/kg. Yearling steers to process gained 21c/kg 460c to 502c/kg. Feeders over 480kgs 470c to 535c/kg. Medium heifers to feed gained 6c/kg 360c to 492c/kg with similar backgrounders slipping 4c/kg 398c to 480c/kg. Feeder heifers to 480kgs were 17c/kg dearer 450c to 506c/kg.
Grown steers to process up to 30c/kg better 435c to 440c/kg. Similar heifers also dearer 400c to 465c/kg. Heavy cows 17c to 31c/kg better 370c to 448c/kg. Heavy bulls were firm 300c to 340c/kg.
