Yarding 2400 Change -620

Gunnedah yarded 2150 cattle, 870 less than the previous market. It was a good quality yarding with a good supply of cows and solid lines to suit feedlots and backgrounders. There was strong competition across the board for cattle to process and feed. Most of the regular buyers were in attendance with an additional processor pushing up prime cow prices.

Young cattle to the trade were dearer, with prime vealers and yearlings selling from 404c to 492c/kg. Feeder steers were 20c dearer, making 430c to 528c/kg whilst feeder heifers were firm to 15c/kg dearer, selling from 380c to 449c/kg. Young cattle to restockers and backgrounders were much dearer with yearling steers selling from 430c to 550c/kg and yearling heifers made up to 445c/kg.

Prime grown heifers were dearer, selling from 360c to 469c/kg. Grown steers to feed sold from 398c to 471c/kg. Cows were significantly dearer with prime heavyweight 4 score cows to processors selling from 402c to 433c/kg. Bulls to process were slightly cheaper, topping at 365c/kg.
